Police on the hunt for suspect who raped and robbed a female jogger in East River Park

NEW YORK — New York city police are searching for a male suspect who raped and robbed a female jogger in Manhattan Wednesday night.
Police said at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a 26-year-old female jogger was running in East River Park when a man with dreadlocks engaged her in conversation. The man claimed he had a gun, but the woman later said he never actually took it out. The man dragged the woman by the hair off the footpath to a nearby amphitheater, where he sexually assaulted her. The attacker then rummaged through her pockets and fled the scene on a bicycle with her phone and credit card.
After the alleged attack, the woman walked out of the park and used a passerby's phone to call 911. She was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital and is reportedly in stable conditions.
The victim described her attacker as black, 5-foot-8, about 200 pounds, aged 35 to 40, with dreadlocks, police said. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
No arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon.
