Për drejtues te shoqatave te gazetareve, rënia me 5 vende e Shqipërisë ne klasifikimin global për lirinë e medias, ishte e pritshme. Mero Baze dhe Aleksander Çipa, qe prej vitesh punojnë e drejtojnë organe shtypi ne vend, thonë, se ne përkeqësimin e situatës nga viti ne vit, ndikojnë disa rrethana. Por Baze e Çipa ndahen disi ne opinionin, nëse edhe vete aktoret e medias kane përgjegjësi ne këtë situate. Në renditjen e "Freedom House" Shqipëria gjendet ne vendin e parafundit ne rajon dhe në të njëjtën pozicion me vende si Libani, Tunizia, dhe pasohet nga Bangladeshi dhe Kenia qe pozicionohen vetëm një shkallë më poshtë. Raporti vlerëson nivelin e lirisë, duke u bazuar në faktorët ligjorë, politikë dhe ekonomikë.
