Nigeria retakes Baga as Boko Haram attacks more villages

Nigerian forces are said to have retaken the strategic northeastern town of Baga from Islamist militant group Boko Haram. However, witnesses reported devastating attacks on other villages.

Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade said the forces backed by airstrikes seized the town on Lake Chad and bordering Cameroon. He added that many of the militants were wounded or killed in the assault.
