Around 150 people have been killed in raids blamed on Boko Haram in Nigeria's north-east. Several villages have been brutally attacked in Borno state; houses have reportedly been razed to the ground and victims mown down at mosques. Also, the UN says Burundi’s parliamentary elections this week were neither credible nor free. It blames the climate of fear.
