Italy's Giorgia Meloni throws her hat in the ring for EU elections

Live from the Fratelli d'Italia programmatic conference in Pescara, the Italian prime minister announced her candidacy in the European elections next June

00:00Italy has returned to make itself known and count internationally.

00:09Most importantly, Italy can change Europe.

00:11These were the words of Italy's Prime Minister, Giorgio Meloni, as she addressed Brothers

00:15of Italy's three-day conference here in Pescara.

00:19The occasion marked the official launch of the party's electoral campaign ahead of the

00:24European elections.

00:26And most importantly, on this occasion, Giorgio Meloni announced she's running in those elections,

00:31a decision that will help her party gain more support, and given that she's the president

00:36of the ECR group, well, the decision carries a significant weight.

00:41And speaking about the future European Parliament, she also vowed to create a right-wing bloc,

00:47very similar to what she described as the Italian model that could replicate what has

00:53been happening here in Italy with the right-wing ruling coalition.

00:58However, more clarity on which political forces will be part of that coalition will be only

01:03provided after the elections.
