STORY: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Friday (December 26), while recalling his own experience of losing scores of police officers during the attacks of September 11, 2001, emphasized the importance of lessening the financial burden for surviving family members of first responders killed on duty,

"I said to myself 'what can we do about this?' and the first thing we could do about this is we can take away their natural fears they're going to have of 'how am I going to live now?"

Giuliani was speaking at a news conference with the fiancé and family of Officer Wenjian Liu at his side. He was killed this week along with his partner by a gunman whom police say was intent on killing officers as retaliation for police tactics.
