Hanks, Tomlin Kennedy Center winners; "Boyhood" honored

Tom Hanks was in Washington, D.C. to accept the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors prize. The actor was among several inductees this year, including actress and comedienne Lily Tomlin and singer-songwriter Sting. The awards ceremony itself was chock full of live performances, with the likes of Bruno Mars, Bruce Springsteen, and Lady Gaga all paying tribute.

"Boyhood" has earned the top honor from The Los Angeles Film Critics Association, which named the movie their best picture of the year. The film follows the life of a boy and was shot over a 12-year period. The Critics Association also named its director Richard Linklater's their top pick, while Patricia Arquette picked up best actress.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" collected $21.6 million to lead the North American box office for a third consecutive weekend. The film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, has raked up more than 560 million dollars globally. Coming in at number two was DreamWorks Animation's "Penguin
