On Tuesday, the unnamed 40-year-old victim reportedly died of a sudden heart attack in her hair salon.

According to city health officials, the reason for the testing was because she recently traveled to West Africa. She had arrived in the U.S. 18 days prior to her death and was one out of about 350 people who were placed on a monitoring list for Ebola symptoms.

New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene released a statement noting “Before death, this individual showed no symptoms of Ebola.” It was also mentioned that it the process was done out of an ‘abundance of caution.’

The city’s Fire Department confirmed the scene was clean, indicating the lack of presence of bodily fluids. Fire officials were decontaminated at the hair salon.

The woman passed away just one day after Dr. Martin Salia, the second person to succumb to the deadly virus in the U.S.
