Haymarket Square Martyrs remembered

Today marks 128th anniversary of one of the most important events in international labor history, the Haymarket Square Hangings. In 1886, four anarchist activists were executed for conspiracy after a workers' rally in Chicago ended in violence. The event is considered by many to be the basis of the internationally celebrated Labor Day holiday, marked on May 1, by nearly all countries in the world except for the United States. teleSUR
