Kiev protesters scuffle with police amid call for prisoners' release

STORY: A demonstration outside the Ukrainian presidential administration building in Kiev dissolved into scuffles on Friday, as protesters fought with guards.

Protesters were calling for the release of Ukrainians seized by pro-Russian separatists in the embattled east of the country when guards attempted to stop their progress toward the presidential building.

At least one man, decried as a "provocateur" by other protesters, lit a tire on fire.

Guards in full face masks and camouflage tried to hold back demonstrators from the building and separate people scuffling.

The protest came as the country is living out an uneasy ceasefire between troops and rebels in eastern Ukraine meant to stem the bloodshed in a conflict that has killed over 3,660 people and wounded 8,766, according to the United Nations.
