STORY: Britain's Prince William and Prime Minister David Cameron have officially opened the new WWI exhibition at the the Imperial War Museum in London on Thursday (July 17).

Both the Prince and Cameron toured the exhibition, being shown around by youth advisors.

"The first world war was famously to be the war to end all wars - as we know only too well, it wasn't. A war that took hundreds of thousands of young lives has been followed by many other conflicts, woven through history to the present day," Prince William said as he conducted the opening.

The museum's galleries are being revamped to mark the centenary of the Great War.

The Duke of Cambridge and Mr Cameron later spent time browsing through the many new artefacts on display.
