Actress Jolie takes plight of kidnapped Nigerian girls to red carpet

STORY: She was in London to promote her new film "Maleficent", but Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie used the event at Kensington Palace on Thursday (May 8) to renew her plea for the safe return of more than 200 kidnapped Nigerian school girls who were taken by Islamist group Boko Haram.
The actress, who is known for her philanthropic work and currently serves as a United Nations special envoy, said she was touched to see peoples' concern for the girls.
People around the world have been showing their support by taking part in protests and joining online campaigns calling for the girls' rescue. First Lady Michelle Obama and human rights activist Malala Yousafzai are among those backing an online campaign and have posted photos of themselves holding a sign reading "#Bring Back Our Girls."
