Global support grows for abducted Nigerian girls kidnapped by Boko Haram

Global support for the plight of missing schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in north eastern Nigeria is growing.

In New York City Mayor De Blasio and Reverend Al Sharpton added their weight to the movement calling for their release.

In Toronto a protest against the actions of Boko Haram took place as Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird said his country is considering sending surveillance equipment to help in the search.

The Nigerian army has meanwhile deployed two more divisions to bolster the borders with Chad and Cameroon.

Britain, the United States, France and Interpol are also involved in the hunt form the girls.

Support for the kidnapped schoolgirls came from within the White House after First Lady Michelle Obama expressed her outrage at the abductions.
