Bus collides with truck in Egypt, leaving at least 22 dead, 25 injured

An early morning bus trip in dense fog ends in death and destruction in Suez, Egypt.

At least 22 are dead and 25 more injured after this bus collided with a car parked on or near the road.

One eyewitness said he heard the impact.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED EYEWITNESS, SAYING:

"I was sleeping, and as soon as I heard the crash I ran over. I found the truck parked like it is now. The bus collided with the truck as you see. The people were thrown on the road and we immediately started diverting the traffic."

The eyewitness blamed a lack of adequate lighting for the accident.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED EYEWITNESS, SAYING:

"There isn't proper lighting on the road. The closest source of lighting is seven kilometers either way, up until the tunnel."

The injured were taken to local hospitals in Suez.
