Two killed in pro-Mursi protests in Egypt

Thousands of protesters take to the streets of Egypt, demanding the reinstatement of President Mohammed Morsi.

They marched in major cities chanting "down with military rule".

Two people died in clashes with security forces on Friday....but over the past few weeks hundreds -- most of them Muslim Brotherhood supporters -- have been killed in demonstrations like these.

The protests come one day after the Interior Minister survived an apparent assassination attempt. A car bomb targetted his convoy.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD SUPPORTER AMR THARWAT, SAYING:

"Yesterday's explosion is the full responsibility of the Interior Ministry. They claim that they are protecting the country, then they're supposed to say who did what. They are known to have a bad history of creating and fabricating explosions to blame on Islamist groups or the Muslim Brotherhood.
