British-Irish boy band One Direction brought their 3D movie, "This Is Us" to the United States for its New York premiere.

Just one day after making headlines at the MTV VMAs, the group was flooded with questions about Taylor Swift and being booed as they picked up their trophy for song of the summer.

Luckily for the guys, pop star Lady Gaga came to their rescue on the big night and offered a bit of support.

SOUNDBITE: Niall Horan, one direction, saying (English):

"She was great last night. She was a really nice girl. Because it was actually the first time we had ever met her properly, we've passed her at different things, but we never spoke to her before then. I thought that was really nice what she did. She came over and just gave us a pep talk."

The five-member band was formed on the UK television singing competition "The X Factor" in 2010.

Over the course of three years the quintet has built a devoted fan base around the world.
