00:00Hey folks, so Jacob here with Palette Torum and today we are up at West Point's Farmers
00:06and Artisans Market and we are joined by Amber Stanley, the proprietor of this lovely location.
00:12And so some of you have probably seen some of our posts about having our products and stuff
00:15up here, so we're going to do an interview with Amber today to kind of find a little
00:18more just the history and the backstory of the shop.
00:21So for our first question, we're going to ask, how long has the store been in operation?
00:24I opened March 4th of 2024 and relocated to our new current location on February 8th of
00:36this year.
00:37And how big is the new store location since I know it's grown in size since the first
00:42location?
00:43Tripled our space, but we relocated.
00:50All right, let's move to the new location for the shop.
00:52How many vendors are you all up to, right?
00:55I currently have 31 vendors and then two youth vendors that are children of current vendors.
01:03Okay.
01:03And with the move to the new location, are you all looking for more vendors right now?
01:07If you are, what kind of vendors are you all looking for?
01:09I do have plenty of room for new vendors.
01:12Definitely seasonal produce vendors and vendors that may have a commercial kitchen that can do
01:18some prepared meals.
01:19All right, so there you go.
01:20If you're a seasonal produce grower here in the Westlands area, or if you're somebody that
01:25makes a prepared meal, stop by and talk to Amber about feeding on as a new vendor here
01:29at the shop.
01:31All right, so with the move to the new location, what kind of items do you all have available
01:35in the store?
01:35We carry an assortment of meats, baked goods, drink mixes, teas and kombucha, which we also
01:44have on tap for the kombucha, eggs, plants, health and beauty products, apparel, produce,
01:50home decor, crafts.
01:53All right, so what was the reason behind the move from the old store to here in this new location?
01:58We had the opportunity to significantly expand our space, and we were rapidly upgrowing our
02:04previous location, so that was a huge factor, but also increasing our visibility and making
02:09our shopping center to find the best stores.
02:11Okay, and so where can people find the new store location?
02:14We are located at 218 West Lane Street in the West Lane Plaza.
02:18Okay, and if somebody wanted to come and shop the store, what are your hours of operation?
02:22They need to stop by, if they're going to come in and browse, we'll have a sale.
02:26We're open from Monday through Friday from 10 to 5, and Saturday from 10 to 2.
02:31So Amber, what was the idea behind the shop, and what makes this place so unique?
02:36I was looking for a spot that I could sell my plants year-round, but wanted to also support
02:43kind of the local vendors that I'd gotten to know through the farmer's market and being
02:47outdoors, and provide a space where we could be inside and function here.
02:52around without them having the effects of the weather and some of the other issues that
02:57have come up at outdoor markets.
02:59Okay, and the next question is, what would you say to people that you're not a real farmer's
03:03market, since you're indoors, have a storefront?
03:06There is a huge movement going on right now for farmer's markets that have typically been
03:13outdoors, that are moving to indoor retail locations.
03:17They're actually called farmstops.
03:20Turns out, I was one of the first farmstops in Missouri with this exact setup as a vendor-based,
03:29fully functional retail store.
03:31Okay.
03:32Well, thank you.
03:33Thank you for having us today.
03:34And for all of you that are watching along at home, if you can't catch us at one of our
03:39normal farmer's markets outdoors, then you can always come and enjoy the local farm stop
03:44here in West Plains.
03:45And come shop the store.
03:47We'll have our products here.
03:48As you heard, there's a wide variety of other vendors that have all kinds of items here.
03:54Oh, I'm always finding something new when I'm walking through the store.
03:57So, thank you for, you know, conducting this interview today, and hopefully we'll have
04:02a few more people coming in to come and see you at a great place here.
04:05Thank you so much.
04:35So, what kind of items do the vendors...
04:40Shit, let's start over.
04:43Yeah.
04:44You can hold the chicken in this one.
04:46We'll know that that's the cue to cut the video out.
04:49Yeah, go ahead.
04:50Is it filming?
04:51Mm-hmm.
04:51All right.
04:55So, what kind of products do you have in the store right now?
04:58We have vendors that grow and produce.
05:03So, what was the impetus behind the move from the old location?
05:08Da, da, da, da, da, da.
05:09On the front of the same building that we were in, it just moved to 218 West Main Plaza.
05:21Nope.
05:22So, what was the idea behind starting this shop?
05:26Like, what kind of makes this...
05:28Birds and things, things and words...
05:32...
05:33...
05:37...
05:39...
05:41...
