Iraq The Peshmerga - Those who face death

Kurdistan's female combatants are in full training as tensions between the autonomous state in Northern Iraq and the Baghdad-based central government are on the rise. The 200,000 troops of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, known as peshmerga ('those who face death') are mostly turbaned men under the control of either the PUK or the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
