Syrian troops enter Damascus suburb Douma

The Syrian army is being deployed in ever greater numbers to crackdown on its own people.

Tanks are patrolling the southern city of Deraa where the uprising erupted six weeks ago.

Hundreds of troops in full combat gear have poured into Douma, a suburb of the capital Damascus.

And on the coast, the city of Baniyas has been surrounded by troops.
