It's been just over a month since a deadly bullet train crash outside China's Wenzhou City left at least 40 people dead. Now, new safety precautions have been put into effect, but many are still wary over the safety of traveling by rail.
The Beijing-Shanghai bullet train will resume service on September 1st... after a deadly accident on two bullet trains in Wenzhou killed at least 40 people.
When the trains get running again, they will travel slower and be 30 yuan cheaper. Despite the changes, few tickets sold on Wednesday in Shanghai, when tickets first went on sale.
Not a single ticket was sold by 3pm at Jingan Temple, Shanghai's largest ticket sales agency of its kind.
But tickets for the "Special Fast Train" from Beijing to Shanghai, which are cheaper than other bullet trains, did sell out in under a minute on Wednesday.
Starting from September, besides three overnight bullet trains, there are 27 other high-speed trains running between Beijing and Shanghai.
