South Korean Zoo Celebrates the Upcoming Year of the Rabbit

2011 is the Year of the Rabbit on the Chinese zodiac. And to mark the occasion, one zoo in South Korea held special festivities including a tiny obstacle course built for hopping. Here's more.

A South Korean zoo celebrated the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit on Friday with a rabbit village of sorts, and a hurdle race.

According to the Chinese Lunar calendar, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, which begins on February 3rd.

Dozens of zoo visitors gathered at the Rabbit Village to watch rabbits race to clear hurdles at the Everland zoo in Seoul.

"Our Rabbit Village holds this event to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rabbit and to show the rabbits' amazing capabilities as well as their gentle and innocent disposition."

Some children were entertained by the sight of bunnies hopping over hurdles.

"Next year is the Year of the Rabbit. It is funny and curious to observe the rabbit's skills."

According to the Chinese zodiac, those born in the year of the rabbit are calm, friendly, and loving.
