It is rumoured former MP Ann Widdecombe could be about to sign up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The ex-shadow home secretary had been approached about joining the line-up in the past but she put it off saying she would think about it "once I've retired."

The 62-year-old is no stranger to reality TV having taken part in the first series of Celebrity Fit Club in 2002.

It is thought she will join former Good Life star Felicity Kendall and rugby player Gavin Henson, who has also been linked to the new series.

A BBC spokesman was unable to confirm any of the names. He said: "We don't comment on speculation."
