BA aims to resume London flights on Tuesday

British Airways has said it will aim to resume some flights in and out of London's airports from 7pm on Tuesday.

The airline made the announcement after complaning that the current restrictions on air travel may be too severe.

BA chief executive Willie Walsh joined a flight crew on board a Boeing 747 test flight that set out on Sunday evening from Heathrow and went out into the Atlantic before landing safely at Cardiff.

The carrier said analysis of the flight had revealed "no variations in the aircraft's normal operational performance".

The aircraft's "black box" flight data recorders showed that all four engines had performed "without fault for the duration of the flight".

The aircraft flew as high as 40,000ft during a flight nearly three hours long.
