Mexico City claims the unveiling of the world’s largest sandwich
Mexico City launched the 20th edition of the Torta Fair (the torta is a Mexican sandwich) on Wednesday, August 13.
The event commenced with the unveiling of what organizers claim is the world’s largest torta, measuring 90 meters long and weighing over one ton. More than 90 national and international vendors collaborated to create this massive sandwich, using over 50 specially chosen ingredients.
The fair has produced a total of 1,153 meters of giant torta since its inception, a hallmark tradition of the event.
Over the five-day festival, visitors can explore a diverse array of tortas—from traditional to exotic fillings like insects and wild boar—while enjoying live performances from over 50 artists, according to event organizers.
