00:00Now I also look, you know, deeply at people's records and what they've done, and one of the
00:24things about being a Green Beret, and I know many of you here know this firsthand, is, you know,
00:29they take pride in being the first ones in and the last ones out.
00:33They're silent professionals, like other special operators and different services, but they
00:39do oftentimes clandestine missions, there's no fanfare, no boasting, all they're trying
00:46to do is achieve results.
00:48They are not seeking recognition.
00:51That is the epitome of putting service above self, and if you look at Jay's distinguished
00:58record, he has stepped up time and time again to do missions that very few people in our
01:05country would be willing to do.
01:08And politics has become so performative that we often lose sight, or some do, I don't think
01:15we have in Florida, you know, lose sight of why are you really there?
01:19It's not to emote on social media, it's not to get on as many TV shows as possible.
01:25Jay embodies one of our core principles.
01:29While words can be meaningful, it is ultimately deeds that are the most powerful.
01:34You're in office to deliver results for the people that put you there, not to serve your
01:40own personal interests, and I think Jay's life story has been the embodiment of that.
01:46Florida's also been a proving ground for conservative policy.
01:50You can look at a state like California, honestly, naturally one of the most beautiful places
01:55you could ever be all up and down that.
01:57You look at places like New York and Illinois and see people, they're hemorrhaging population,
02:04people are fleeing, and where have they chosen to flee to for refuge and for sanity and for
02:10freedom?
02:11The free state of Florida.
02:13We have shown that conservative principles when applied to bold solutions and bold policies
02:19work.
02:21That is something that is very important as we continue to have debates in this state and
02:27across the country.
02:28And I think Jay has amassed a conservative record that is second to none.
02:33He was one of the few folks that were standing strongly at the beginning of this year to say,
02:40Florida must, must work with the Trump administration to finally end the illegal immigration crisis
02:47and to be partners in these removal and deportation efforts.
02:51He's been a strong supporter of election integrity, 100 percent record on law and order.
02:58When you do the crime in Florida, you will do the time, and we will never embrace California
03:04style week on crime policies here in the Sunshine State.
03:09When I called on the legislature to ban the purchase of land by the Chinese Communist Party
03:15in our state, Jay wrote the legislation and got it done.
03:21He's been in lockstep with us on education reform.
03:30He's been a friend to taxpayers supporting massive tax relief, and he's one of the strongest
03:35supporters of our proposal, which will be on the ballot next year to give homeowners
03:41in Florida finally some property tax relief.
03:45He's been a supporter of our efforts to do historic debt reduction in the state of Florida.
03:51We've eliminated over 40 percent of the state's total debt over 180 years just since I've been governor.
03:57He's been a partner in our efforts to revitalize our natural resources, including the Florida
04:04Everglades, but also springs and other key aspects, as well as to improve and modernize Florida's
04:11infrastructure.
04:12And he helped us defeat the woke agenda in Florida, CRT, DEI, ESG, all in the dustbin of history
04:21in the Sunshine State because of our efforts.
04:28And here's the thing.
04:30If you haven't been willing to lead at any point in your career, you're not all of a sudden
04:37going to get into a high office and suddenly grow a backbone.
04:41It doesn't work that way.
04:43If you show me what people have done, if you show me that people have stood for the right
04:48things, you show me people who have sacrificed and who have led and who have run into the
04:53fire, then that's somebody that I think will likely be able to do that when they get elevated
04:58to higher office.
05:00But it's about performance and record and deeds, and Jay on that measure has amassed a stellar
05:08record and I believe he will continue to be an outstanding leader in the state of Florida.
05:14And as I said, look, you've got to ultimately be able to handle this job if circumstances
05:19warrant that.
05:20And one of the things you have to do as governor of Florida, which may not be as important in
05:25some other states, many other states, and even some that have to deal, probably don't
05:29have to deal with it as much as us, is to be able to manage crises like disaster response.
05:35And if you look at Jay, he's been in crises as active duty service member.
05:40He has personally, through his charity, gone and been a first responder, helping people
05:47get stabilized, helping distribute meals to first responders as well as displaced residents
05:53during all of our recent hurricanes, Ian, Idalia, you name it, he's there, honestly, he's there
06:00before I get there sometimes, I'm like, how are you doing this?
06:03And he does.
06:04And then, of course, if you look at what he did in Israel, why would you want to go in
06:14to Israel when Iran is raining rockets down?
06:17Most people would take a pass on that.
06:19He didn't need to do it.
06:21And yet here we are doing these amazing flights and taking people out by boat.
06:27And I think we got, I mean, we probably got almost probably 2,000 all in with the boats
06:31and everything.
06:33And he's on the first flight he can do to get there.
06:36And he has personally saved a number of lives just in that operation.
06:41And so that shows you somebody who's able to handle pressure, who's able to navigate through
06:47very difficult situations.
06:49So congratulations to Jay, his wife Layla, sons Gabe and Colt on his appointment to the Lieutenant
06:56Governor of Florida.
06:57And now, and with Jay's appointment, Florida will be the only state in these United States
07:12that has both a Governor and a Lieutenant Governor who are military veterans.
07:17And what better state to have?
07:24So I'm happy to be able to have the opportunity to elevate somebody who's earned it, somebody
07:33that you can trust, and somebody that you can be proud of.
07:38Our mission continues.
07:40We will lead, we will fight, and we will win for the people of Florida.
07:46Our goal is very simple, keep Florida strong.
07:50Thank you very much.
07:51And we're going to now hear from some folks.
07:55So we're going to start with Wendy Nissan.
07:58Where is she at?
07:59Okay, come on up.
08:00So we're going to hear from a few people, then we're going to do the swearing in, and then
08:03Jay's going to have a few words for you.
08:06Thanks, everybody.
08:06I'm with Jay.
08:07There's a lot of people on a couple of people on a list.
08:07There's a lot of people on a list that is for you.
08:09I'm with Jay.
08:09I'm with Jay.
