00:00Since we have started this administration, yes.
00:03But we've arrested hundreds of thousands that have gone through our system.
00:07That's not true.
00:31Charges and convictions, over 70% of them have pending charges against them or criminal convictions.
00:36The others all have final removal orders, which means they're eligible to go back home.
00:48Nobody's getting swept up.
00:50We're running targeted enforcement operations across the country
00:54and using our case files and our information to know who is a criminal in this country
01:00that needs to be removed and who has a final removal order.
01:03Nothing's changed.
01:04Huh?
01:06What's wrong with our targeting?
01:12They're not following the law if they're here illegally.
01:15There's a right way to come to this country.
01:17And so...
01:18Yes, I'm talking about criminals in these situations, absolutely.
01:24But we also have every situation where we have those that have final removal orders need to go home
01:29because their due process is over and they have their paperwork and they're ready to travel.
01:33So that has been the priority since the very beginning.
01:36Nothing has changed.
01:37And over 70% of these individuals that we have gone out and arrested and removed from the country
01:43have had those pending charges and criminal convictions against them.
01:47That has always been the goal of the president.
01:50Yes.
01:50Are there policies to think about identification and masks for ICE agents?
01:54Are they being told they do not have them on their website?
01:57ICE is always wearing something that identifies them, who they are, and what operation they're out on.
02:03And I would say that they wear masks at times to protect their identities from dangerous situations.
02:08The leadership teams, we leave that up to them to discern what's necessary in certain situations.
02:14And with the rise in violence that we continue to see against these officers,
02:18with that 1,000% increase, it's making sure that they are safe while they do this job
02:25and that they get home to their families at night, too, is incredibly important.
02:28So if you're understanding they are a victim of themselves?
02:30Yes.
02:31I would like to see that because they have identification.
02:37They have gone into situations when they have been out looking for these dangerous criminals
02:43and have been verbally identifying themselves.
02:46And if there is a mask required, it's for their safety because of the situation that they're encountering.
02:51One more question.
02:52Like that?
02:54Yes, there you go.
02:55So you've mentioned that it's been harder to work with people in Illinois,
02:59with other countries, but also a mission to hire for ICE officers and state folks who are in Illinois.
03:07So how are you doing that?
03:09High-ranking people in the state, where people are working in the state, and where are those things going?
03:14Yeah.
03:15You know, the response has been overwhelming.
03:17Part of the big, beautiful bill that President Trump advocated for allocated to us the resources
03:24is to hire 10,000 new ICE officers.
03:27We have had that open for less than a week, and we have over 80,000 applicants for those jobs.
03:32So they're from all over the country.
03:34Some of them are retired ICE officers who want to come back now that they're going to be allowed to do their jobs,
03:39some retired CBP or other federal officers.
03:42And then we also have a huge amount of interest of people who just want to have their backs and work alongside them.
03:48So what we're doing then is to get them trained up as soon as possible is we'll be training them through our federal academy,
03:55but we're also going to stand up some pilot areas of where people can have signed up and have offers from the federal government.
04:08We may do a training right here closer to home so they're not away from their families for so long.
04:13So that's being worked out as we see where the final offers are coming from.
04:16Do you think how long it came in the last room that is in about 10 years?
04:19How would you get those?
04:20Yeah.
04:21Yeah.
04:22Yeah, it'll be within weeks because we're going to give them credit for what they already know.
04:26If they're former law enforcement, they already have training and certifications that we will honor and look at.
04:33They'll still go through testing.
04:34They'll still go through drug testing and physical tests and all of that.
04:37But we want to make sure that it's an expedited where we check the box.
04:40If they have the experience, then it helps us not keep them stalled out in an academy for weeks at a time.
04:45Senator, might you just want to ask how operations have been impeded by sanctuary city policies if they have?
04:54And do you feel like you're still on target to reach the amount of arrests that you would like in those sanctuary areas?
05:01Well, the lack of information sharing is hard.
05:03I would say anybody who serves in law enforcement would say they're used to partners.
05:06They're used to being able to call up a local law enforcement officer, a sheriff, a highway patrol officer, and say,
05:14hey, do you have any information on this individual that is a murderer that's been cited in your city?
05:20That's not happening in Illinois.
05:21And when we're calling on those most dangerous individuals, when they're being released from your prisons,
05:27they're not even letting us know, not honoring our detainers.
05:29When we lodge a detainer against someone, it's when you let that person out of jail who's been paying the consequences,
05:35let us know so that we can pick them up and get them out of the country.
05:39You know, Illinois is not partnering with us on that, which is very, very difficult
05:43when we know that those dangerous criminals are going to run free.
05:46And many times we go into situations where we don't necessarily have the law enforcement to play a backup role.
05:54There are times where we bring more individuals and more federal officers because we believe we need to do that for security reasons.
06:01So we have great partnerships across the country, over 800 of them, with state and local law enforcement in other states.
06:07We wish we had that here.
06:09We wish we could build those partnerships.
06:12We're going to keep plugging away.
06:14And for us, it's about getting dangerous people off the streets.
06:17So our target is to get dangerous people off the streets.
06:20Last question back there.
06:21I think us opening up the age requirement is wonderful for people to have opportunities that they've always wanted.
06:47But so many people were forced to retire from law enforcement at a young age because of that arbitrary deadline.
06:55And now they'll be able to come back and serve a few more years if they'd like to provide for their families
06:58and then help on the mission of making America safe again.
07:0218-year-olds can come and sign up and help us with processing and paperwork while they train and they get the experience.
07:08They can walk alongside our officers.
07:09They will all be as fully trained as any full-time officer before they're put in a situation that might require more of them.
07:17So we want everybody to be at the same level of skill set and knowledge when they're out doing an enforcement role out on the job.
07:25Anything else?
07:26Yes?
07:27I don't expect you to be, to know the detail whether it's specific to me.
07:31So I wanted to give you a little context that calls for a broader answer on the question.
07:37A whole month ago, I publicized the arrest of two men that they were responsible for a mass shooting in Chicago.
07:44I agreed that they named them and I got a lot of coverage.
07:47However, they have still not been charged in that mass shooting.
07:52So my question is whether it's people sent to Griffin in El Salvador or two men accused here in Chicago of a mass shooting.
08:01Is it responsible for ISIS publicly accused of violent crimes before they've been charged?
08:07Well, we follow cases and prosecute cases and turn them over for prosecution just like any other law enforcement agency does.
08:15So when we sweep up somebody who's committed an act of violence like that and turn it over, that is public information that is out there.
08:24And people need to know who is perpetuating these crimes.
08:28And we continue building cases then on who they're affiliated with.
08:31Is there further dangers?
08:33Our investigators are some of the best in the country that are out there making sure that not only is that person now incarcerated,
08:41but who were they affiliated with that could be another danger that we need to continue to look at.
08:45So even if they haven't been officially charged, I would say we follow the exact same process every federal agency does,
08:52every state agency does for law enforcement.
08:53So we have not changed our methods or how we handle cases or how we even communicate about them than we have since the very beginning
09:01or how the Biden administration did or the Obama administration.
09:04We do it exactly the same.
09:05What I wish is you guys would talk about the victims more.
09:08How many people were shot in that mass shooting?
09:11How many people were victimized?
09:12How are their families doing?
09:14You all spend so much time talking about the poor justice for these criminals that are harming individuals every single day.
09:22And you don't even think twice to go talk to a mom who's now lived for a year and a half without her daughter.
09:27Go talk to somebody and see how they're doing trying to get their kids to school, not sure if they're safe.
09:31So I would encourage you to remember that there's always victims in these situations.
09:35And many times you're focusing on the one who made them a victim.
09:40You guys have a good day.
09:57We always got you covered here on Live Now from Fox.

10:32We'll take a two minute break.
11:02We'll take a two minute break.
11:32We'll take a two minute break.
12:02Welcome back in Live Now.
12:06I'm Austin Westfall.
12:07President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet next Friday, August 15th for the first in-person meeting between leaders of the U.S. and Russia since Moscow launched its war on Ukraine.
12:19Trump saying on social media, the highly anticipated meeting between myself as president of the United States and Putin of Russia will take place on the 15th in the great state of Alaska.
12:31Further details to follow, he says.
12:33Thank you for your attention to this matter.
12:35Retired Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery of the U.S. is here.
12:39Lots to discuss on this.
12:41Firstly, what needs to happen on Friday in order to put us on the path to a ceasefire?
12:47Thanks for having me.
12:49Thanks for having me.
12:50You know, a lot needs to happen because, frankly, at this point, Putin hasn't made any concessions.
12:57He's never acknowledged that he would give in on any area that President Trump has asked him to.
13:04And I contrast this with President Zelensky, who has given in on a number of concessions and agreed in principle to be in the position where you could actually have a ceasefire.
13:15So I think, first and foremost, President Putin is going to need to make some concessions.
13:19I'm not holding my breath for that.
13:21But if we're going to get anywhere, it's going to be that he agrees to a cessation of air attacks on critical infrastructure.
13:30And that he agrees to a ceasefire along the line of control that is consistent with the current footprint of forces.
13:38In other words, don't ask Ukraine to give up further land losses or areas that they currently hold as some concession from Ukraine to reward Putin for a failed invasion.
13:55Bouncing off of that, I got to ask you, the Wall Street Journal says that Putin today, they're reporting that Putin would halt the war in exchange for eastern Ukraine.
14:06If that's where the negotiations start, Mark, I got to ask you, what feels like a reasonable place for the negotiations to end?
14:13That Putin would halt the war in the position forces are currently in at this moment, and that Trump would not turn to President Zelensky and ask him to acknowledge that constitutionally or perpetually, but instead to acknowledge that that is the condition we're in today.
14:34You know, it's some kind of temporary cessation of hostilities, because I don't think Zelensky nor any democratically elected leader of Ukraine could just concede the loss of 25 percent of the country to just a rapacious authoritarian like Putin.
14:49Why is Putin meeting with the president of the United States? Why not the president of the country that he's at war with?
14:55Exactly, because Putin considers himself on an equal footing with President Trump.
15:02You know, he considers himself a big country like the United States, and he considers Zelensky.
15:06So let's go.
15:07Let's go.
