Happy Gilmore 2 Is Missing Carl Weathers And More. How The Cast Felt About Memorializing The OG Actors Who Died Before The Sequel

Spoilers ahead for Happy Gilmore 2.  Adam Sandler is a beloved comedian and actor, who has put out a number of truly iconic movies throughout the years. In the past few years he's been releasing a number of projects for those with a Netflix subscription, and the latest upcoming Adam Sandler movie to finally arrive is Happy Gilmore 2. The sequel is a love letter to the original, and pays homage to Carl Weathers and other actors who died before it could begin production. And actor Christopher McDonald aka Shooter McGavin spoke to CinemaBlend about the way the sequel honors them.  Happy Gilmore is one of the best Adam Sandler movies in my opinion, so I was thrilled when I got to speak to Sandman and and other members of the cast ahead of the sequel's release. The sequel features a ton of returning characters, and also pays tribute to those who are no longer with us. As you can see in the video above, I spoke to McDonald about this aspect of the film.

00:00Happy Gilmore 2 does feel like a love letter to the fans in so many ways. There's so many

00:05nods to the original and the music hits the same and there's a bajillion cameos and returning

00:12characters that I didn't necessarily assume would be returning. Are there any without giving away

00:18too much obviously that stuck out as your favorite that you were like oh I can't believe so and so

00:22is involved and or I can't believe. Well there were several of the guys that were turned like

00:27that and it was I but talk about the heart of this movie we have our big uh you know our big first

00:33meeting uh Gilmore and McGavin and and it's an it's an homage to the people we've lost for this for this

00:42second movie because he didn't do it quick enough but uh no I I kid and joke but it but it was a

00:47beautiful way to do it in a in a kind of a classy way to send our send our prayers and gratitude to

00:54them and um it's just things like that made this movie really exceptional in a lot of ways and I

00:58love the heart that it's brought to this story because it is all about family and it's all about

01:04you know love and keeping it together and what you have to do to go the next mile and uh and that's a

01:09great great story in every American movie every yeah that's it's just it's just a great lesson and

01:14he does it with such great aplomb I'm so happy for him because it's it's um it's it's really an honor

01:20to be in this kind of movie that makes you laugh and then also you know gets you welled up a little
