Amtrak will launch its long-delayed NextGen Acela high-speed trains on August 28th, according to CNN. The new fleet will introduce faster, more spacious service along the Northeast Corridor from Washington, New York, and Boston. Five trainsets will launch initially, with 28 total expected by 2027. The new trains will offer 27% more seating, 160 mph top speeds, and upgraded amenities including 5G-enabled Wi-Fi, individual power outlets, and a tilt system for smoother rides. Amtrak said it will release more details ahead of the launch about how passengers can identify and book the new trains. Current and NextGen Acelas will operate simultaneously in the near term.
