A shocking case of mob violence has surfaced from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, where a 22-year-old Nepali woman was brutally beaten by a group of youths after being falsely accused of theft. The disturbing video of the incident has gone viral, prompting widespread outrage.
The woman, who works in a private firm in Noida, had come to Bareilly’s Fort area after being called by two men — Resham Singh and Vinay Gangwar — on the pretext of a job opportunity. While she was speaking on the phone on a rooftop in Mohalla Baradari, a rumour spread that a thief was seen escaping via rooftops. Without any verification, locals dragged her down, tied her braid, and beat her mercilessly — all while she screamed, "I am not a thief."
Police acted after the video went viral and have arrested four accused: Gaurav Shivam (18), Shivam Saxena (22), Aman Saxena (24), and Anil Saini (19). The rest are absconding. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and the investigation is ongoing.
SP City Manush Pareek confirmed the arrests and said efforts are underway to nab all those involved.
