22:26So for my glamour, I'm going very clean
22:29and I'm about celebrating life for this one.
22:31The shade of red I'm using for my entire like gown
22:34and everything is actually the same shade of red
22:36as my retroviral that I take every day for HIV.
22:38But I need people to see that I take a pill every day.
22:42It's just like a vitamin.
22:44I live a very beautiful, healthy life.
22:46So for the people that are like, you know, scared
22:48or have like the wrong idea
22:49or think this is some kind of death sentence,
22:51I need to show them like I'm alive
22:54and I'm a big ray of fucking sunshine.

23:26and I want to know how that's been for you.

23:48and your battle with cancer.
23:50I'm a very like immune compromised person.
23:52I've always been.
23:52And when the doctor said to my face,
23:55hey, you have cancer.
23:56A stage three going into stage four is pretty serious.
23:59You need to like treat it like right now.
24:00I was like, you know what?
24:01I'm going to do this thing.
24:02I'm going to power through this.
24:03I'm going to do whatever it takes to get better
24:05so I can do drag again.
24:07Yeah.
24:07And actually season three of Dragula got me through
24:10a lot of the chemotherapy.
24:11And now I'm here.
24:12It's such a crazy fucking thing.
24:14We're all very happy that you're here.

24:18to kind of your drag, you have made it a point
24:21to include references to your own culture

24:57The horror look, I've planned the moment
24:59I finished chemotherapy.
25:01I'm going to have all these like tumors
25:03and like faces growing out of me.
25:05My gown is like a pageant gown silhouette,
25:07but made out of hospital gown.
25:09And I have an IV pole with IV tubes plugged inside of me.
25:13I'm preparing a chemo diary that sums up like my experience
25:17in chemotherapy.
25:18My performance is going to be reading it on stage.
25:21It's going to be very emotional.
25:23To me, it's almost like a healing ritual.
25:25Oh yeah, absolutely.
25:27And so finally, we have filth.
25:29I know a little bit about your filth
25:30and it's something that, I mean,
25:31I feel personally very strongly connected to as well
25:34as an Asian person, like what's your filth look?
25:36So my filth look is going to be a representation
25:39of how me and a lot of Asian American and Asian folk
25:43feels when they're met with a Western gaze
25:46on our culture, basically.
25:48Especially like going into this Corona pandemic,
25:51a lot of us were faced with that hate face to face.
25:54So that I felt so personally disgusted by.
25:57There was just no other option for me.
25:58This was what I wanted to do.
26:00So my garment is almost like a old comic,
26:03like a racist comic cartoon character.
26:05I want to make it as over-exaggerated as possible.
26:08So I'm displaying how ugly and ridiculous this can be.
