🎬 “Raanjhanaa” is returning to theatres… but this time, with a twist — the ending has been changed. And the original director and writer’s vision? Nowhere in sight. 🙂

The 2013 film Raanjhanaa is being re-released on 1st August under its Tamil title ‘Ambikapathy’ — this time with a new, AI-generated “happy ending.”

But director Aanand L. Rai was shocked by the move.
He told the media he was never consulted about this AI version.
He has now completely dissociated himself from the project and said he’s exploring legal options.

Meanwhile, Eros Media, the company that holds the film’s rights, defended the decision.
Their CEO said: “If AI can help us do something good, why shouldn’t we?”

🤔 But here’s the big question — Can we call this the future of cinema when creators are being cut out of the process?

🚨 And remember — Raanjhanaa is just the beginning.
Eros owns titles like Sholay, Mother India, Om Shanti Om, Bajirao Mastani, and many more…

So who knows — your favourite film could be next in line for an AI re-edit. 🥺

What do you think — is this creative innovation, or just artistic disrespect? 👇🏽

00:00So now there is a big deal that is going to be released and people are saying that AI has altered its ending from the AI. Basically, they are making a happy ending.
00:11So the end of that is not going to die. So it's a happy ending. So I remember that my mom was the first screening in India in Delhi.
00:21The first screening was released in the theatre. So it's about ten years ago. My mom came to watch the film.
00:30And the film was finished. They said, how did you feel? They said, look, the film is good.
00:37But the ending is happy. The last one is the director of Deepak and Devi.
00:42Vicky Kaushala and Richard Adda are the characters on the boat.
00:48They said, let's marry them. Let's show one scene. Let's show one scene. Let's show one scene.
00:53Let's show one scene in Suhaagrath. And it will end the movie. And the film will be super hit.
00:58I said, no, that's not going to happen. I could not explain the film logic and cinematic logic.
01:03I said, no, that's a logistic issue. And we felt like we were shooting for more money.
01:08We felt like it was 10-10 lakhs. And we didn't release the next week.
01:13We felt like we were shooting for more money. We said, let's take the money away from the film.
01:17Why would you make it like this? Why would you make it like this? Why would you make it like this?
01:20Why would you make it like this? I said, no, it's not the first thing.
01:22But don't make it like this. You should make it like this. You should shoot the movie. This is a hit. I am telling you.
01:27So I said, no, he gave me a logistical issue that I had to take all the dates.
01:33There was a lot of logistical reasons, and he said, okay, this is the only problem you guys want to make an artistic film, but not to make a hit film.
01:43And so yeah, Masan released as it is, but I'm so glad that my mom didn't have so much money to make the film re-edit and release it from AI.
01:55Not that they have rights, but some of them have rights to make the film re-edit and release it from AI.
02:03So those are those who are the ones who are the ones who are the ones who are.
02:07Namaste.
