Transcript
00:00And this week, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America Peoples Trade Treaty premiered the documentary
00:05The Embrace of the Peoples as part of the 20th anniversary of the regional bloc.
00:13In addition to participating in the People's Summit for Peace and Against War,
00:18the regional organization premiered the documentary The Embrace of the Peoples,
00:22produced by the Argentine production company Comuna Audiovisual,
00:25which resumes the 20 years since the creation of Alba Movimientos,
00:29an initiative that unites 400 social and political organizations from 25 countries.
00:34This historical archive summarizes the progress and moments of resistance of the peoples
00:38in the face of imperialist attacks.
00:40It is also relevant in a context where imperialism is strengthening its attempts to dominate our continent.
00:48This documentary is part of a series of activities that we came to carry out in Caracas, Venezuela this week.
00:54Following President Nicolás Maduro's call and commitment to peace,
00:58which began a few weeks ago with the call to the peoples of our continent and the world
01:02to meet at a summit of Peoples for Peace and Against War.
01:06So within this framework, Venezuela has called us together.
01:09But first we, at Alba, took the opportunity to hold our ninth continental coordination meeting,
01:15which was attended by 22 countries from the region.
01:18And we held a series of debates, particularly on our political program.
01:22But we focused everything on the preparatory steps, the route, towards our fourth continental assembly,
01:29which will take place from May 6 to 9 in Havana, Cuba,
01:33in the context of the centenary of the birth of the commander and leader of the revolution.
01:36Good afternoon, my name is Raul, I am here representing Comuna Audiovisual,
02:00an audiovisual production collective from Argentina.
02:04And we work with the Alba Continental Movement.
02:08We are extremely proud and grateful to be here at the National Film Archive.
02:14This is our first premiere in a movie theater, because we are in Bolivarian lands,
02:19on the birthday of Commander Hugo Chavez.
02:21And there is a whole symbolic significance to this,
02:26after so many years of work, more than five years of work, on this documentary project.
02:33We are truly very happy to be able to hold the premiere in this place that has so much power.
02:43This documentary has a fundamental importance in its content,
02:47because the challenge that it posed in terms of integration and coordination of our organizations and people
02:54are challenged, that remain relevant today.
03:00It is like an educational tool for explaining what Alba Movements is to our colleagues.
03:06That, in every community kitchen, in every assembly, in every community space,
03:11where we gather to discuss the politics we want.
03:13The political project we are working on, and striving every day to transform this reality.
03:21The idea is that this documentary will be a tool for advancing those debates and discussions.
03:26The importance of having an historical archive that summarizes two decades of struggle
03:31is fundamental for the memory of popular movements,
03:33and also for the political education of their members,
03:36who, despite the geopolitical context, dream and...
03:39The other than what we're trying to be,
03:40the last time we look at the doubt,
03:41the complexity of the community,
03:43our community of querer and the expertise of our actions,
03:45and that are the dimensions of our work,
03:46of the work that we're trying to make ourselves think of
03:48to the challenges of our partners,
03:48that we're not talking about ourselves and the Erfolg and the information.
03:49But what we're trying to do now is that this documentary about
03:49the purpose of how we're getting into the human rights of our communities,
03:50is particularly interested in the image of our neighbors,
03:51that we're trying to communicate how we're doing,
03:51to know, and to know that.
03:54So, we're going to be more about to see how we are going to be the present.
03:56So, when we're going to have an image of our students,
03:57our communities of a community of people we are going to practice,
