In his intervention at the “Voices of the New World” forum, Spanish journalist Pascual Serrano denounced the hypocrisy and double standards of Western powers in their media coverage of international conflicts. With a critical and analytical discourse, Serrano exposed how hegemonic media manipulate narratives to justify military interventions, criminalize certain governments, and legitimize the actions of geopolitical allies, violating basic principles of international law.
00:00We could not put up that the West decides who's the good one and who's the bad one,
00:14who's gonna have nuclear bombs or not, and who's gonna drop bombs on countries or not.
00:23That's the kind of things that we cannot allow.
00:28So he's just dynamitizing the basis, the foundations of international coexistence.
00:40So while the principle of sovereignty of the state and the territorial integrity are under the regulations,
00:52NATO just invaded Kosovo.
00:58And so in the case of Donbass, they just come to justify the national integrity because the Ukrainian people are the good ones for them.
01:14So the ones that first are terrorists, they stopped being as the case of the Muslims when they just right now want to damage China.
01:29And the case of Sahil, all sovereign countries must face terrorist actions with intelligence coming from Ukraine, that is, NATO.
01:41And when Russia supported the illegitimate government of Syria, they were accused of dissidency.
01:48And so Netanyahu has been killing 60,000 killings and they have been under the arrest order and there have been no action to arrest him.
02:07And so we saw what happened when they proposed to put nuclear weapons on Cuba.
02:20And so they are just always taking positions on conflicts.
02:30They just include double standards as omissions and unequal testimonies, thousands ways of manipulating.
02:40So they just put on the same balance the Palestinian victims with the ones that dropped bombs.
02:53The imprisonment with the due legal process that he was intending to make a coup d'etat in Venezuela.
03:06And those who were kidnapped in El Salvador.
03:10So we must face the double standards and say who's the victim and who is the perpetrator.
03:16So if we don't have a heart and we are not humans and if we are not humans, we could not report.
03:24And the last thing, our government, our journalism needs demand and veracity.
03:33And so we are not talking about activism, but we must convince showing the truth, not hate or rage, as it must be understandable the way that we show light to the people.
03:48But we must manage the appropriate data, the calm arguments, and that's not – so that's a different frontline.
04:07We cannot leave the greatest media outlets, the powerful journalists, the speech that they are objective, impartial, and demanding.
04:22But our objective is the justice of our peoples.
04:27But the objective reporters are not – if we don't sell to power and we accept the empire of our values is because we are the independent ones.
