00:00Did you know the supplements you take to stay healthy might actually increase your risk of cancer?
00:05Oncology dietician Nicol Andrews is sounding the alarm on popular vitamins like C, B6, and B12,
00:12especially in high doses.
00:14Many people take these supplements hoping to boost their immune system or prevent cancer.
00:18But here's the twist. The body can't flush out the excess.
00:22Instead, it absorbs them into the bloodstream, where they can damage healthy cells and even fuel tumor growth.
00:28In one study, lung cancer tumors actually grew faster in patients taking high doses of vitamin C and E.
00:35Another study found that male smokers taking B6 and B12 had four times the risk of developing lung cancer.
00:42Why? Because high doses can create free radicals, unstable molecules that attack your DNA.
00:48And shockingly, most supplements are poorly labeled.
00:51So you might not even know how much you're really taking.
00:54Experts say unless your doctor prescribes it, stick to food.
00:58Oranges, meat, eggs, and fish can give you all the nutrients you need, without the risk.
01:03Sometimes more isn't better. It's dangerous.
