00:00In other news, with a new composition of lawmakers of the 20th Congress comes corresponding changes to the chairmanships of various committees in both chambers of Congress.
00:09Today, the heads of the various House committees were named, which Armena Las Moras dwells on, and more in this report.
00:18The House of Representatives has appointed new leaders to head several powerful committees in their chamber.
00:24For the Appropriations Committee, which will take the lead in scrutinizing the national budget, Nueva Ecija 1st District Representative Micaela Angela Swan Singh was appointed as chairperson.
00:36Meanwhile, Davao de Oro 1st District Representative Maria Carmen Zamora was assigned to the accounts panel.
00:42Bukidnon 2nd District Representative Jonathan Keith Flores will lead the Committee on Dangerous Drugs.
00:47And Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua was retained as chair of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.
00:55For his part, Manila 6th District Representative Bienvenido Avante Jr. will still be the Human Rights Panel Chair.
01:01Cagayan de Oro City 1st District Representative Lord & Suan, on the other hand, will lead the Public Information Panel.
01:08For Public Order and Safety, this will be headed by Manila 2nd District Representative Rolando Valeriano.
01:14And for Ways and Means, it will be chaired by Marikina 2nd District Representative Miro Kimbo.
01:20For Batangas 2nd District Representative Jervie Luistro, she will lead the Committee on Justice.
01:26Quezon 1st District Representative Mark Enverga was retained as the chair of the Agriculture and Food Panel.
01:32Same as Pangasinan 3rd District Congressman Maria Rachel Arenas, who will still lead the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
01:39While Tingo Partilist Representative Jude Asidre will be serving as the chair of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education.
01:45In their respective statements, the newly appointed committee chairs expressed deep gratitude for the trust and support of their fellow House members.
02:11Parang bubuoy niyata ulit yung Quad 2.0, so andun ako.
02:17Pero use naman ako sa intrigues.
02:20So hopefully, hopefully, makaano tayo doon sa role na yun.
02:24As of now, the committee chairmanships and other positions for officials of the House are yet to be filled,
02:30which is why the plenary session was also scheduled earlier than usual.
02:34Given the fact that the House is in the process of organizing itself by appointing its chairpersons,
02:41its members to the committees, and of course, going through the bills that were filed before the resumption of session,
02:48we have a lot on our plate right now.
02:51And so, in order to expedite that, I thought it would be prudent for the House to start session at 2 instead of 3.
02:58I mean, it's not a big change, but we can do a lot more with that time,
03:05and a lot more can be done within that one-hour time span.
03:08According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, this 20th Congress,
03:12they will prioritize proposed measures that will greatly benefit our fellow citizens,
03:16particularly concerning food, jobs, education, and healthcare.
03:21Hindi sapat ang pwede na.
03:23Ang kailangan ng Pilipino, mabilis, maayos, at malasakit na servisyo.
03:29Malalas Moras from the National TV Network for a New and Better Philippines.
