00:00England's Lionesses have done it again. They have retained their UEFA Women's Euro title,
00:08defeating Spain 3-1 on the penalties in a dramatic final in Switzerland after a 1-0 draw.
00:15Chloe Kelly buried the winning spot kick and goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made crucial saves as well.
00:21This marks the first time any England football team has defended a major trophy on the senior side
00:29and lifted it on foreign soil as well.
00:33And by Pall Mall on the way to Buckingham Palace and it's such an incredible atmosphere here.
00:38There's music playing in the background, there's helicopters overhead.
00:41This is where the Lionesses are going to go and lift the trophy.
00:44And these women, these Lionesses have well and truly captured the hearts of the nation.
00:49To win not once but twice you can see the inspiration amongst the fans beaming from their faces.
00:56Here is what they had to say.
00:58I'm here today because I have followed women's football for a very long time.
01:04I played myself when it wasn't right for women to play.
01:09I had to pay to play.
01:11And 2022, I followed them every single game and didn't get to come and celebrate with them.
01:18But this year I thought, I'm not missing out, I'm going to come and celebrate with them.
01:21It's what I know is a great achievement.
01:23I was obviously out there for some of the Euros, I couldn't make the final.
01:27But Lionesses, what they've done the last few years, it's just phenomenal.
01:31It's just like, this is like mad.
01:32You can't get nowhere, you can't even see nothing.
01:34It's absolutely brilliant.
01:35Keep going.
01:37Yeah, you've been absolutely incredible.
01:38So just keep doing what you're doing and doing the country proud.
01:40Made England very proud.
01:42Just very well done.
01:43And they're an inspiration to the younger generation, to coming up, sporting footballers.
01:51Women have always been the bridesmaids.
01:53And every competition, men and women, you never sort of, you get near.
01:56And obviously, in fact, to be up two years in a row, or two torments in a row now, is absolutely phenomenal.
02:00It's an achievement.
02:02It just, I don't think they realise what it means to young girls.
02:06I really don't.
02:07And young boys too, because a lot of them are heroes for the boys.
02:10But yeah, I don't think they truly understand what they've done.
02:14Not just once, but twice, back to back.
02:17You see a lot more, before there's a lot more girls and children maybe, but I see a lot more
02:22males now and all coming out and particularly watching men as well.
02:25So it's good.
02:26You need to keep growing the fan base.
02:28As I can't say, how women's football has grown the last four years, it's just like,
02:33there's no end to it.
02:34It can get a lot bigger than it is now.
02:36So hopefully, World Cup 2027.
02:39No, I'm such an excitable person when it involves football.
02:46So yeah, the whole lot.
02:47The fact that you can win a trophy without playing amazing just shows that's what champions do.
02:55So.
