00:00Yes, some football news now. Crystal Palace stunned Manchester City to win their first ever major trophy, claiming a 1-0 victory in the 2025 FA Cup final at Wembley, beating Manchester City.
00:14Ebreche Eze scored the decisive goal in just the 16th minute, finishing off a cross by Daniel Munoz.
00:21Palace defended with a discipline and grit with goalkeeper Dean Henderson, producing a pretty heroic performance, including a crucial penalty save from Omar Mahmouche to preserve Crystal Palace's lead.
00:36Now, despite dominating possession and registering 23 shots, Man City were frustrated by Crystal Palace and saw a second half equaliser ruled out for offside as well.
00:49A long time serving captain Joel Ward finally got a chance to get his hands on an FA Cup trophy and secured Crystal Palace's first ever trophy win and European football next season as the winners of the FA Cup get the Europa League.
01:05Now, Crystal Palace is a small area of London. It's like its own little town in the southeast of the capital with a real community.
01:12So, I went to speak to locals to find out how they are feeling about Crystal Palace winning such a big trophy.
01:20Yeah.
01:21Do you live in Crystal Palace?
01:23Yes.
01:23Yeah.
01:23For, since 1979, we have a lot of good things going on here. We have the Olympic flamethrower here, but Crystal Palace actually winning the FA Cup. That is epic. Epic.
01:35I think it's great. I think it really helps put Crystal Palace on the map. Like, everyone who lives here loves it. We know Crystal Palace is a special place and I hope by winning the FA Cup a lot more people can recognise that, visit and see how great it is here.
01:47I'm not, but I've got a lot of friends and a lot of people that I know are really big fans, so I've saw it all on Facebook, yeah.
01:57On Saturday, did you feel the kind of...
01:59Oh, the ambience. I mean, everything's going on in the world, but Saturday, the difference, the people were, well, I mean, it was packed up here Saturday night, well, all during the day.
02:09My business was killed because of it, but it was a good reason. We were celebrating, hopefully, an FA Cup victory and we won, we won, we won. It's major, honestly. I think this will stay with Crystal Palace fans for a long, long time. We've waited long enough.
02:27Anything like that is great, even if I'm not a football fan.
02:31Oh, I love it. I mean, we all love an underdog story and Crystal Palace, you know, in a European Championship, it's the greatest underdog story I can think of recently. This is the Rocky Barbour of our times.
02:42Well, obviously, the fans are going to be up here to, you know, watch the game and hope they get their victories. They will. But I think it's going to be so massive for the community, for shops, pubs, restaurants. It's just going to lift Crystal Palace because we need it. We really do need it.
