A sunken village in Athens has reemerged and can be seen here for the first time in 30 years.  Lake levels have dropped down by 30% in recent months which is why the ruins of the school and houses have reappeared. Veuer’s Chloe Hurst has the story!

00:17dropped down by 30% in recent months, which is why the ruins of the school and houses have

00:23reappeared. A 60-year-old pensioner who had to leave his home explains that this is the second

00:28time the remains have appeared since almost 80 houses, and a church and school were sacrificed

00:35to supply Athens with water. Given the record-breaking temperatures and prolonged drought, the Greek

00:40authorities have called on the 3.7 million population of the surrounding region to not waste water.

00:48Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis says, we don't have the luxury to waste water. At a time when we

00:55know with certainty that we will have less water, we must protect water resources more methodically

01:01than we have done so far.
