00:00If you guys have to go on the floor and you have to hide, what would you wear?
00:05Mystique.
00:09That was quick.
00:10It's a very long costume to get into.
00:19I want to start off with some questions to Akiva and Henry.
00:23Are you planning to end the series with the full OG cast of characters?
00:30Wow, straight for a spoiler.
00:35Straight for the jugular.
00:36The full OG cast doesn't exist at the very front of the TOS era.
00:42So we're going to get as close as possible while not jumping deep into the TOS seasons.
00:49Wow.
00:50I'm not sure you answered it.
00:53You're going to meet some of them for sure.
00:56And there's going to be some surprises.
00:59Okay.
01:00Speaking of surprises, are we ever going to see Romulans?
01:03You've seen Romulans.
01:04You saw Romulans in season one.
01:07I can't keep up.
01:08Okay, what about, are we going to see Cyborg?
01:09But you may see them again.
01:11Oh, Cyborg.
01:12Cyborg.
01:12Cyborg.
01:13Cyborg.
01:14Can you see that guy?
01:14Oh, well, it's interesting you should ask that.
01:16Yeah, that's so funny.
01:17Interesting question.
01:18You very well may see Cyborg.
01:21You very well may see Cyborg.
01:23I love non-answer answers.
01:25Will there be a SNW spinoff as we get to...
01:31You know, we will beg and borrow when Skydance comes in to see whether we can do it.
01:38We would like to not strike the sets.
01:40We have the technology.
01:41We like them very much.
01:42We love our sets so much.
01:44And we have a lot of the...
01:46We have most of the people.
01:46We have a lot of the cast.
01:47A lot of crew.
01:48Yes.
01:49Writers.
01:49We have the writers.
01:50We have everybody very willing and able and eager.
01:53Do you have the ending of season five already in your head?
01:57Wow.
01:58Yes.
01:58We've broken season five.
01:59Boris.
01:59Okay.
02:00Boris.
02:00I'm very hard to know.
02:02That's how you...
02:02It's, you know, a question for Paul.
02:05Okay.
02:06Okay.
02:06Do we need to hold it for you?
02:07Yes, please.
02:08Yeah.
02:09And Akiva stay right there.
02:10Yeah.
02:10This is how he treats you.
02:10You've directed some TV episodes before.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Have you ever thought of directing or have asked to direct an episode of Trek?
02:21I have not.
02:23And truthfully, I've directed a bunch of episodes of Ampire Diaries, which I was also in.
02:30And it was one of the hardest things I could do.
02:32Because I'm an actor, right?
02:33So you watch playback and you're like, oh, well, that's terrible.
02:35You just want to keep doing takes.
02:37So you have to, like, kind of disconnect from the acting and just be an objective director.
02:43And I find it's doable, but it's also, like, kind of difficult.
02:49So the short answer is no, I have not asked.
02:52And it's something I prefer not to be in something when I'm directing it.
02:55That's why you shouldn't watch playback.
02:57I'd like to direct Chrissy, though.
02:58What?
02:59Go ahead, Chrissy.
03:00You direct me anyway.
03:01But let's ask this.
03:06Akiva, if Paul asked to direct an episode, would you allow him?
03:10Which one is Paul?
03:13There we go.
03:14Answered.
03:15First and answered.
03:17A question for the actor.
03:17Do actors like when other actors give you notes?
03:21No.
03:22No.
03:22That's a no-no.
03:23No.
03:24Paul Wesley.
03:24You never do that.
03:25You're the queen.
03:27That's a no-no.
03:28And some people are guilty of it.
03:29What?
03:30That's what Chrissy told me.
03:31Are you kidding me?
03:33Oh, wait.
03:33Oh, it goes both ways?
03:34Oh, the two.
03:35Oh, I got it.
03:36Okay, okay.
03:36So Chrissy's no angel.
03:38What about the interviews about the last episode?
03:40I know.
03:41You're on the last episode.
03:42I know.
03:43I'm saying.
03:43You haven't answered.
03:45Answered if actors give each other notes?
03:49No.
03:49I don't think that's usually acceptable.
03:52Sometimes, I think sometimes there's a time and a place.
03:55Sometimes we do what's called a series of a line, which is the camera keeps rolling.
03:58You just do different takes of a particular line.
04:01And typically, it's for comedy.
04:02And sometimes, it is nice to have a suggestion.
04:04It's really difficult not to suggest when we're doing, I think, comedy.
04:07Because it's fun, and you want to be involved and included in it.
04:11And so that might be a time and a place.
04:14But typically...
04:15And sometimes, it's nice to ask for other people's input.
04:17Like, what do you think sounds better?
04:18If I do it like this, or if I do it like that?
04:20Yeah.
04:20Usually, I ask after it's been done, and I'm like, was that okay?
04:24Or was that the end of my career?
04:25So, you can't really actually take notes after it's done.
04:29You can, like...
04:30I think when it's on your coverage, you can sometimes, if you're supporting somebody in
04:35their coverage, you can say, do you want anything from me differently to, like, help
04:39with that?
04:39But I think that's a different thing.
04:40Yeah, that's different, yeah.
04:42That's a more politically correct.
04:43Like, a more...
04:45It's more supportive rather than, like, do this.
04:46Yeah, yeah.
04:47Okay.
04:48It's like a pretty big no-no.
04:50Yeah.
04:50It's a pretty big no-no.
04:52Generally speaking, it's a no-no.
04:53I'm glad we talked about that.
04:57Question for Jess.
04:58Yeah.
04:58What is more soapier?
05:01Strange New Worlds or Home and Away?
05:03Now, be careful.
05:06Why would I have to be careful?
05:07You might have to be careful.
05:09Oh, Home and Away, for sure.
05:11I've played two different characters on Home and Away.
05:14Oh, you have?
05:15Yeah.
05:15I just play on Home and Away.
05:16Yeah, years ago.
05:17Don't look it up.
05:18I'm definitely going to look it up.
05:19Home and Away is that very famous Australian soap show that everyone gets their start on
05:25before they move to America.
05:26It's like a rite of passage.
05:27Totally.
05:28Yeah, it's like how you break into the acting world.
05:30So it's Star Trek.
05:32Do you think so?
05:33Come on.
05:34Okay.
05:35Everyone's afraid to speak right now.
05:37And that's the only serialized element of our show, because the rest of it is Mission
05:41of the Week.
05:42But yeah, I guess there are certain viewers that tune in for all that.
05:44Shipping.
05:45That's the thing, yes.
05:47With real ships.
05:47Shipping?
05:48Ships.
05:48Ja'an.
05:49Ja'an.
05:50Oh, like shipping to couples.
05:52Yeah.
05:52Jack, you, I think, probably just came back from the set of Doomsday.
05:56Yes.
05:57Are you, are you done shooting your, your scenes?
05:59Uh, not quite sure.
06:01The script hasn't, they haven't finished writing it.
06:03Yeah, it's, it's been very, very fun and extremely, uh, it's been very, very fun.
06:09And we don't know yet.
06:10They, they keep everything very close to the vest themselves in an effort to keep everything
06:15under wraps.
06:15Have you read the entire script?
06:17I cannot confirm nor deny that I have read the entire script.
06:22Uh, who are your scenes with?
06:23I can't say.
06:24Wow.
06:24And you know I'd love to.
06:25This is great.
06:26But it was very surreal to be with my old cast as well as a new cast.
06:32I will say that.
06:33I had crazy dreams while I was there for a large chunk of shooting.
06:37Like flashbacks?
06:38Like really, like, kind of regressive dreams.
06:40Like leaving a set, like going through that makeup process and having dreams where I was
06:44going home to a house that I used to live in back then that I hated.
06:48It was very strange.
06:49Like my brain was really trying to organize.
06:51Like, wow, this is a character I played 25 years ago, 20 years ago.
06:54Wow, that would be true.
06:54Yeah, very surreal.
06:55How do you do that as an actor to go back to, again, a role that you've played before
07:00and you sort of know, but...
07:02Oh, I know her very well.
07:03I went back in with full ownership of her.
07:06It was very nice to go back and play that character.
07:09Because I had imposter syndrome at the very beginning.
07:11I thought maybe at the very beginning I was just cast because I happened to be the model
07:14who was available to play Mystique at that moment.
07:16I mean, I auditioned and I got the role, but I was like, oh, wow.
07:20Because when you're very young, you're like, do I deserve to be here?
07:22And I did not have that going back this time.
07:24It was a very different experience going back.
07:25I can't wait to see it.
07:26Me neither.
07:28That must have been somewhat healing though.
07:29Yeah, for sure.
07:31For sure.
07:32Awesome.
07:32Yeah.
07:32So cool.
07:33On the show, people talk about Anson's hair.
07:36But I want to talk about this guy's hair.
07:38Look at his hair today.
07:39I think it's fantastic.
07:40Look at his hair.
07:43Thanks.
07:46Yeah, everyone thinks it's a wig, the Spock bowl cut.
07:49But we've got just a wonderful head of hair department, Daniel Lascaux, and he flat irons
07:53it and manipulates it into the beautiful-
07:56With a wonderful head of hair.
07:57Exactly.
07:57Into the beautiful bowl cut.
07:59When you read the script of an episode, do you circle the word fascinating?
08:02No, that's really funny you ask that.
08:06But I do say a lot of words, a lot of the same words throughout the course of the series,
08:10like indicates, sensor readings, blah, blah, you know, this kind of thing.
08:14And at this point in time, they do start to get mixed up in my head.
08:16And so we're filming a scene for five hours, and I can't figure out if it's sensor readings
08:21or ship's sensors.
08:23And, you know, it's like, it's a nightmare.
08:24Thanks a lot, guys.
08:26Does that vocabulary bleed into real life?
08:29100%, yeah.
08:30Okay.
08:30It's probably really irritating to my friends, yeah.
08:32Last season, you guys had the crossover episode with Lower Decks, which was a fantastic-
08:39That is true.
08:40Piece of work.
08:41Have you guys considered doing an all-animated episode?
08:45We did.
08:46We considered doing an all-animated sort of TAS version of the show.
08:53And, you know, as Henry was sort of saying-
08:55Those animated scientists?
08:56I'm going to explain it to you later, because those are-
08:58It's confusing, because those are the old-
09:00Yeah.
09:01And we abandoned it.
09:04You know, there are actually, you know, as Henry was sort of saying, there are a series
09:07of ideas we just end up not-
09:11We only have 10 episodes, you know, per season.
09:13So that was one we really dug pretty deep into, but ultimately abandoned.
09:17Do you think you can come back to it?
09:19That sounds like a fantastic, cool idea.
09:21I mean, we love the animated series.
09:24We were looking for ways to bring it into the show.
09:26It's just that we're not always capable of finding something to do in every format that
09:31we want to do.
09:31It's more about spending a lot of time trying to think of what's an interesting format we
09:35have not seen on our show.
09:37That's what we spend our time with.
09:38Okay.
09:39Well, you know what?
09:39It's popcorn bucket time.
09:41Yay!
09:43Thank goodness.
09:43Thank God.
09:44Finally.
09:45Okay.
09:45I'll just grab one.
09:46Yeah, yeah.
09:47What's the best cosplay you've seen at Comic-Con this year?
09:50The ones that-
09:51I'm going to go with Akiva.
09:52Look at, check out his-
09:53Oh, feels right.
09:54He's a very good cosplayer.
09:56You look just like him, right?
09:56You look just like him.
09:58It's uncanny.
09:59It's believable.
10:00Well, speaking of cosplay, then, how about this?
10:01If you guys have to go on the floor and you have to hide, what would you wear?
10:07Mystique.
10:08That was quick.
10:12Very, very long change.
10:13That's a very long costume to get into.
10:16Gosh.
10:17Chewbacca?
10:18Something that really hides you.
10:19You know what I mean?
10:20Like something-
10:21Something you can zip up easily to get inside of with a mask.
10:25Batman.
10:26Batman.
10:26Yeah.
10:27Something with a mask.
10:28I would just do the bowl cut.
10:30Ethan's bowl cut.
10:31I would go as Stefan-
10:34Stefan.
10:35Stefan.
10:35Don't act.
10:36Don't pretend.
10:37Don't pretend.
10:40Oh, me now?
10:41Yeah, yeah.
10:41You guys all take a turn.
10:43Okay.
10:43Oh, what's the best TV theme song ever?
10:46Bonus points if you sing it.
10:47Oh, my God.
10:48Oh, Adventure Time.
10:49Sing it!
10:49Adventure Time?
10:50Sing it!
10:50Oh, yeah.
10:50Adventure Time.
10:52Come on, grab your friends.
10:54Something, something fun never ends.
10:56With Jake the dog and Finn the human.
10:58Na-na-na-na-na-na.
11:00It's Adventure Time.
11:01Wow.
11:02Wow.
11:03I would go with, thank you for being a friend.
11:07Da-na-na-na-na-na.
11:09Traveled down the road and back again.
11:12Your heart is true.
11:13You're a pal and a confidant.
11:15You don't know Golden Girls?
11:16No.
11:17And if you threw a party.
11:19Invited everyone you knew.
11:22You would see the biggest gift would be for me.
11:25And the card attached would say, thank you for being a friend.
11:29Nobody knows the Golden Girls theme song?
11:31Woo!
11:31That was amazing.
11:32No one told your life was gonna be this way.
11:36Oh.
11:37Oh, guys, come on.
11:37We're friends.
11:38We're going to do the claps.
11:39Oh.
11:40One more time.
11:41No one told your life was gonna be this way.
11:46I don't know the rest.
11:49Feels like you're always stuck in second gear.
11:53When you haven't had your day, your week, your month, or even your year.
11:58Because I'll be there for you.
12:01Oh.
12:02Stop.
12:03You could have used the whole episode.
12:05What superpower would absolutely ruin your life?
12:11To have yourself?
12:12To have myself.
12:13But I wouldn't choose a superpower that would ruin my life.
12:16What would it?
12:16What if you can, like, just read people's minds and realize everyone doesn't like them?
12:20That's it.
12:21That's it.
12:21That's it.
12:22That's it.
12:28That's it.
