00:00I know for a fact that the Prime Minister, right the way through this conflict, has been deeply moved and disturbed by what has happened.

00:07In recent days, we've seen yet more horrific images coming out of Gaza.

00:11That means, of course, we need to act, and we need to act again very rapidly.

00:15So he's called together the Cabinet, almost unprecedented over the summer, to do these sorts of things.

00:21But it is important that we come together to think how we as a country can make an impact on the suffering that is in Gaza today,

00:27whilst also thinking about the long-term settlement towards peace and stability for the region,

00:32and, of course, delivering our manifesto commitment towards Palestinian statehood.

00:37Statehood must have a reason. It must have a purpose.

00:39The sovereignty that comes with it is an incredible moment in time.

00:43We want to make sure that's a moment in time that has real meaning, real value, and delivers change.

00:48I'm not going to pre-empt anything that's going to come out of the Cabinet meeting today,

00:52but I think these are issues that we'll be discussing, of course, statehood, of course, the long-term peace and stability.

00:56But I suspect that the Cabinet meeting will lead with what we can do right now to end the real suffering that is happening today.

01:10and, in fact, having a lot of agreement over these issues.
