00:00Hold it, it's a cop.
00:30Ah!
02:00Hello?
02:06Hello, Chief.
02:07How are you feeling, Max?
02:08Oh, much better, thank you.
02:09Anything new from Betty Oyskin?
02:11Well, he's safe at the hospital, but he's still unconscious.
02:14We got the men who tried to kill you.
02:15Oh, good. Did they talk?
02:17Well, they didn't know anything.
02:18They weren't regular chaos personnel.
02:20They were hired from an agency.
02:21Part-time killers.
02:22Hello?
02:31Hello?
02:32What are you looking for, Chief?
02:35Internal security keeps meddling with the equipment.
02:37Why do they have to change my phone into something different every day?
02:40Well, you can't be too careful in times like these, Chief.
02:43Look, why don't you just call down and ask the fellas in internal security where the phone is?
02:48Call them on what, Max?
02:51Right, Chief.
02:52I've been over the whole room and I can't find it.
02:54Did you look in the clock?
02:56Don't be ridiculous, Max.
02:57It wouldn't be in the clock.
02:58So that's where it is.
03:02Where, Chief?
03:03In the clock, Max.
03:10Hello.
03:11Speaking.
03:13Oh, yes, Mr. President.
03:16No, sir, not yet, but we're still trying.
03:19Oh, yes, sir, I know, but if I had a little bit more time, I...
03:22Oh, yes, sir.
03:26Yes, I understand, sir.
03:28Goodbye.
03:29What did he say, Chief?
03:32I'm being temporarily replaced as Chief.
03:35What?
03:36The President is afraid that people would panic.
03:38He thinks it would be wise to appoint a man with more experience, more imagination, more daring, more wisdom.
03:44I can't believe it.
03:45I just can't believe it.
03:47After all your years of courageous and dedicated service, this is an outrage.
03:51Thank you, Max.
03:52And one more thing, Chief.
03:53What?
03:54Would you recommend me for the job?
03:57We're calling Admiral Hargrave to active duty.
04:00Admiral Hargrave?
04:01Who's he?
04:01He was Control's first chief.
04:02There's a card on him in the files.
04:03Admiral Hargrave, in espionage business for over 65 years.
04:18Started out with his own company, Harold Hargrave & Sons, spies.
04:22Board of government service in 1909, became chief of control and retired in 1946.
04:28Hobbies?
04:29Chess and burying old buddies.
04:33Now 91 years of age.
04:3591 years of age and he's still active?
04:37Yes, I understand he gets up every morning and takes a two-hour walk to his office.
04:42Where's his office?
04:43Right across the street from his house.
04:46That's a secret entrance.
04:47It must be the Admiral.
04:48How do you know?
04:49He's the only one that knows about it.
04:50Glad to have you aboard, sir.
05:01Oh, you'll have to speak up, Thaddeus.
05:03My hearing's not what it used to be.
05:06All my other senses are fine, though.
05:08Oh, good afternoon, madam.
05:11Help you doubt, sir.
05:12Thank you, folks, for today.
05:14I'd like to have you meet Agent 86, Maxwell Smart.
05:17How do you do, sir?
05:19Oh, I've heard about you.
05:21Thank you, sir.
05:22No one else available, huh?
05:25Well, I'm sorry about my taking over, Thaddeus.
05:29Well, it's good to serve unto you again, sir.
05:31Any new developments?
05:32Oh, yes.
05:33We think that we've located the Chaos Broadcasting Station.
05:37Do you have an Area 3 map?
05:39Uh, yes, sir, we do.
05:41Oh, good.
05:42And a pointer?
05:43Oh, yes, sir.
05:46Here you are.
05:49Now, we think...
05:52Don't you have a longer pointer than this?
05:56Yes, sir, dear.
05:58Oh, fine.
06:00Thank you all the same.
06:02Now, our tracking unit tells us
06:05that the radio station
06:07is approximately in this area.
06:10Uh-oh.
06:13This little Starbuck, doesn't it?
06:16Admiral, why don't you just come over here
06:18and sit down and take it easy in the chief's chair?
06:21Oh, thank you all.
06:22Let's do that.
06:23Would somebody give me a little push?
06:37Admiral, what was the President's decision on the ransom?
06:40Oh, well, I talked to Herbert about that
06:42just a few minutes ago.
06:44Herbert?
06:45Sir, Herbert Hoover is no longer President.
06:48Too bad.
06:49I thought he showed a lot of promise.
06:51Well, anyway, whoever it was
06:54authorized me to pay Chaos
06:56the billion dollars that they have demanded.
06:59But, sir, Chaos will never turn over the formula to us.
07:02They'll just take our money
07:03and then sell the formula to our enemies.
07:05Hey, that's right.
07:08You know, you're a pretty good thinker, boy.
07:12And a good catcher, too.
07:16That's why.
07:16Admiral, I have to agree with Agent 86.
07:20We cannot pay the money.
07:22Well, exactly how dangerous is this formula?
07:25Well, sir, within 24 hours,
07:27it could dry up every lake, river, and stream
07:30in the United States.
07:31We'd be at the mercy of any country that had water.
07:34Bootlegging would come back.
07:35People would start making bathtub water.
07:38Well, we'd better try to solve this case
07:41before the Chaos deadline.
07:44I have a plan.
07:50Sir, you were discussing some sort of plan?
07:53Well, this actor fellow,
07:55Beda Yoyskin,
07:56is the key to the plan.
07:58We've got to get him to talk somehow.
08:02What is his condition at this moment?
08:05Well, I was about to call the hospital
08:07when you came in.
08:07Well, then, proceed.
08:09A full steam ahead.
08:11Ding, ding.
08:12Hello.
08:18Hello?
08:19Hello, Max.
08:20I think we're on to something.
08:21What did you find out, 99?
08:23Well, I was going through Beda Yoyskin's clothes,
08:25and I found something that puzzles me.
08:27In the pocket of one of his jackets,
08:29I found six laundry tickets.
08:30So what?
08:31Well, Max,
08:32why wouldn't he use the hotel laundry?
08:34This laundry's a good two miles from here.
08:36Hmm, you're right.
08:37That is strange.
08:38And another thing, Max.
08:40Oh, hold on a minute.
08:41Ninety-nine?
08:52Ninety-nine?
08:57Chief, something's happened.
08:59Ninety-nine is in trouble.
09:00It may be a matter of life and death.
09:01Hurry, Max.
09:02We're going to my car.
09:03While you leave, Admiral.
09:11It's locked.
09:17We're going to have to break it down.
09:17We can't do that, Chief.
09:19We'll have everybody on the floor out here.
09:20We don't want to attract attention.
09:35She's gone, Chief.
09:36She must have discovered something
09:38that Chaos didn't want divulged.
09:39Well, maybe she left a clue
09:40behind.
09:41She's been working with me
09:42a long time.
09:43She must have picked up something.
09:49Chief, look at this.
09:51I know that face.
09:53Max, that's Betty Oiskin.
09:54I know that's Betty Oiskin, Chief.
09:57But I mean, I've seen that face
09:58somewhere else,
09:59on somebody else.
10:00But where?
10:03What?
10:06The room in...
10:07Chief, are you sure the room is bugged?
10:16Yes, but I have a plan.
10:17This is our chance to save 99.
10:19Gotcha, Chief.
10:20Great plan.
10:21You haven't heard it yet.
10:22I know, Chief,
10:23but I got a lot of confidence in you.
10:27Chaos knows that either one of us
10:29can lead them to Betty Oiskin.
10:30Now, we go back in there
10:31and let them overhear
10:32that one of us
10:33is going to him.
10:35Chaos captures the one who goes
10:36and the other follows.
10:38One of us goes,
10:39one of us follows.
10:40Right.
10:40And one of us already knows
10:41who goes
10:42and who follows.
10:43You go.
10:44Now, both of us know.
10:48Pardon me.
10:50Can you tell me how to get
10:51to 1235 Alcassar Street?
10:52I'm sorry,
10:53but I don't know.
10:54Then I'll show you.
10:55Let's go, Mr. Smart.
10:56We're going to switch cars
11:12in case we're being followed.
11:13You're heavily guarded.
11:15Don't try and escape
11:16or you'll be shocked.
11:18Get in.
11:26Let's go, Mr. Smart.
11:56Let's go, Mr. Smart.
