Fans of Dune completely missed out on the licensing craze of the Atari 2600 days. Partly because of that pesky gaming crash that was partially due to the licensing craze but also to when the movie released (late 1984). Maybe if Atari was still financially able, there could have been a chance they would have licensed Dune for the Atari 7800 but well, if you know that history, you know how confused Atari was on their own console. Anyways, fans being fans, Dune fans can now play a hyper focused part of Dune on their Atari 2600. Spice Harvester certainly has a self-explanatory name. You have one goal here.

00:00all right who's a fan of doom particularly the 1984 edition in the movie theaters i'm going by
00:08i guess you could say the books too anyhow that aside just doom don't matter maybe you're a fan
00:14of the new one hey that's fine no hate here anyhow there's a game called spice harvester
00:21for the atari 2600 is released by idiot idiot box games and you basically run a harvester and you're
00:31collecting well spice and sounds simple right well there's a little bit more to it and slightly
00:39more strategy than most atari 2600 games had back in the day now there are worms on the planet and
00:48they're attracted to the spice well actually they're protecting the spice and the noise that
00:51you harvest in it brings you know gets their attention they've got to protect it so you got
00:56to collect as much spice as you can before the worm gets there and if the worm gets there you lose your
01:01spice plain and simple now if the worm you know if you get away before the worm gets there you keep
01:07some of the spice now it will eat the spice to protect it and you will lose some of the spice
01:13you have already collected kind of sucks but you can use something called a thumper that will get
01:20you know attract the worm so you can continue getting the spice the thumper works for about 10
01:25seconds it will use one full block of spice though so use it sparingly because to advance to the next
01:32level you need that level's number of blocks in spice so level one obviously is one block two is two
01:39blocks level three is three blocks and so on you get a score just like old atari 2600 games all had
01:45there's no ending really does he just go until you can't go no more now as each level you know is
01:52completed the worm gets faster and this your harvester don't let's just put it that way and so yes the game
02:02will you will eventually lose just like most atari 2600 games there is no you know real ending but
02:09anyway links in the description below and everything if you're a fan of atari 2600 games a fan of dune
02:15it's a no-brainer as of this recording spice harvester is about thirty dollars that comes with a box
02:23the manual and the cartridge with a label and a artwork sticker so is that worth it
02:31in your pocketbook and you're gonna have to decide on that one
