U.S. President Donald Trump claims he helped stop tensions between Thailand and Cambodia by threatening to block U.S. trade deals. He compared the situation to his past involvement in easing India-Pakistan conflict, saying he called both Southeast Asian leaders and warned that no trade would happen unless peace was restored. Trump stated, “By the time I got off, I think they want to settle now.” He said using trade to stop wars is an honor, suggesting that economic leverage can be a powerful diplomatic tool when applied decisively.

00:00Can I take on Cambodia and Thailand?
00:02You spoke to leaders of those countries.
00:04I did.
00:05Are they doing enough to stop the fight?
00:06I hope so.
00:07You're talking about Cambodia and Thailand?
00:10So I had an interesting time dealing with Thailand,
00:13and we do a lot of trade with Thailand and with Cambodia.
00:17And yet, I'm reading that they're killing each other, you know?
00:20They're fighting, they're in a war.
00:23And I say, this should be an easy one for me,
00:24because I've settled with India and Pakistan,
00:27and Serbia and Kosovo was going at it, you know,
00:30but they have for a long time, in all fairness.
00:32You know about that.
00:34And others, the Congo, and, you know, what's gone.
00:41That's been a horrible thing with Rwanda.
00:45That's been a horrible thing.
00:4631 years, 7 million, 8 million people killed.
00:50Machetes, machetes all over the place.
00:54It's a terrible thing.
00:55We got that one solved.
00:56We did five of them.
01:00And I was saying, you know, we have a trade deal.
01:02We were working on another, we finalized another trade deal yesterday.
01:05And I asked my people, I said, how are we doing with Cambodia
01:09and how are we doing with Thailand?
01:13And they say, they're going to be coming in at some point to talk.
01:16I said, well, let's call them right now.
01:17So I called the prime ministers of each.
01:18And I said, we're not going to make a trade deal unless you settle the war.
01:23A lot of people are killed.
01:25You know that in a short period of time.
01:26The border.
01:27They're fighting pretty like wild.
01:30And I spoke to both of the prime ministers.
01:33And I think by the time I got it off, I think they want to settle now.
01:36I know they're meeting today or tomorrow.
01:39And we're going to work with them.
01:42Marco Rubio is working with them also, his people and him.
01:46I think we're going to get that.
01:48That would be a great thing.
01:49But that would have turned out to be a bad one.
01:52And I will tell you, India and Pakistan, they were really getting ready to go at it.
01:58So getting those things settled, if I can do it, and if I can use trade to do that, it's my honor.
02:03But I had great talks with two very good people that they both really would like to make a deal.
02:11So we'll see what happens.
02:12Okay, how about one?
