Fighting must first stop between Thailand and Cambodia before there can be negotiations, said Thailand's acting prime minister Phumtham Wechayachai on July 24 as the border dispute escalates. 00:00At 0820, the Cambodian military personnel

00:29has opened fire across from the Mupa base,

00:33approximately 200 meters east of Daman Temple,

00:36forcing the Thai side to return fire.

00:39Currently, the Cambodian side has deployed heavy weapons,

00:42such as the N-21 multiple rocket launchers

00:45and 122-millimeter artillery,

00:49causing damage to Thai civilian homes

00:51and public facilities along the border,

00:54including their residential houses,

00:56as well as the border area development center

00:59in Gap Chum district in Surin province.

01:03The Thai side has evacuated civilians

01:05from affected areas for safety.

01:08Since the situation has escalated,

01:11we felt obligated and compelled

01:14that the ad hoc center has to escalate

01:17the security measures along the border

01:19from level 2, which only restricts

01:24the crossing borders of the people

01:26and the time of the period of time

01:28that they can cross.

01:29Now, we have escalated the measures

01:31to level 4, which involves

01:34the complete closure of all border checkpoints

01:37along the Thai-Cambodian border.
