00:00Asia is apparently becoming a continent of war as hope of achieving peace in the continent appeared slim since 2023 when fresh wars broke out in the Middle East Asia after Hamas attacked Israel, forcing Israel to launch a multi-front wars in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Yemen.
00:18This occurred as Russia that has parts of its territory in Asia had in 2022 launched a full-scale war against its neighboring European country, Ukraine which the multiple wars have led to millions of deaths, with many in the world expecting an end soon.
00:34But, while many in the world hoped for permanent end to the deadly wars, another fresh war broke out during the week on Thursday in the Southeast Asia between Cambodia and Thailand after soldiers from Royal Thai Army of 14th Infantry Battalion on Wednesday stepped on a landmine at Huaybon, Chongan Ma, Nang Yuen District, Yuban Ratchathani Province, within the Thai-Cambodia border area causing severe injury to one Thailand soldier
01:03while four other soldiers sustained some level of injuries, making the acting Prime Minister of Thailand, Pham Tham Wetchai to recall the country's ambassador from Phnom Penh and expelled Cambodia's ambassador to Thailand, leading to heavy military confrontations starting next day morning, which,
01:21Cambodian news agency on Saturday reported that tens of thousands of innocent Cambodians, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly have been forced to flee the military aggression along the border areas, including Priya Vihir, Oda Meenshi, and Persit,
01:38and the Royal Thai Army also on Saturday released a video of its men hoisting the Thai flag at a location and stated that the Thai national flag was raised atop Phumakwaya, following Thai military operations to assault and seize the Phumakwaya area, where it said the Cambodian forces had been heavily positioned, adding that the area was successfully captured during the evening of war on Friday,
02:02while the Prime Minister of Thailand, Pai Tongtan Shinawatu is currently on suspension blamed the cause of the war on alleged powerful criminals in Cambodia, saying,
02:14the conflict stems from the Thai government's efforts to crack down on call centre crimes, dismantling a network of immense financial interests linked to influential groups in Cambodia,
02:25notwithstanding, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdek Mohiborva Thapade Hunmane, in a statement called on Cambodians not to attack businesses and citizens of Thailand living in Cambodia,
02:38adding that, after the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the rotating chairman of ASEAN, Anwar Ibrahim intervened in the matter on Thursday,
02:46both countries agreed to a ceasefire slated to SART on Friday by 12 a.m., but,
02:52an hour after Malaysia Prime Minister told him that Thailand has agreed to the ceasefire, Thailand rescinded its decision and continued military actions against Cambodia,
03:03and the Cambodia Ministry of National Defence spokesperson, Lieutenant General Meili Sokita in an operational updates on Saturday,
03:11said that Thailand has continued to expand its military, including its infantry forces, heavy weaponry into Cambodia territory.
03:19According to the Thailand military known as Royal Thai Army,
03:23the Royal Thai Army condemns the Cambodian side for the incident involving the covert placement of landmines in the border area of Chong and Ma,
03:32Nam Yuen District, Yuban Ratchathani Province, resulted in severe injuries to military personnel.
03:38On 23 July 2025, at approximately 16.55 hours, an incident occurred involving Royal Thai Army personnel from the patrol team of the 14th Infantry Battalion,
03:52who encountered a landmine at Huaybon, Chong and Ma, Nam Yuen District, Yuban Ratchathani Province,
03:58within the Thai-Cambodia border operational area.
04:01The incident resulted in injuries to five Royal, Thai Army personnel,
04:07with one soldier sustaining severe injuries to his right leg from stepping on the explosive device,
04:12and four others experiencing chest tightness and tinnitus from the blast concussion,
04:17they are now being treated at Nam Yuen Hospital.
04:19Tomorrow, General Pana Klayu Plotik, Chief of Army,
04:24will visit the area to monitor the situation and provide moral support to the injured personnel.
04:30He has ordered military forces from the 1st Army Area,
04:34the 2nd Army Area,
04:35and various units to prepare for operations under the
04:38Chakrafong for Wanat, plan upon receiving orders.
04:42The Royal Thai Army strongly condemns this inhumane act that violates international humanitarian principles
04:48and international agreements,
04:51occurring within the Kingdom of Thailand's territory due to actions by the Cambodian side,
04:55and calls upon the Cambodian side to take responsibility for this incident,
05:00which constitutes a serious threat to peace and stability in the border region between the two countries.
05:06The Royal Thai Army affirms its commitment to utilizing all available mechanisms
05:11to take appropriate action within the proper framework,
05:15ensuring the safety of military personnel and Thai citizens while preventing further incidents of this nature.
05:20Royal Thai Army Public Relations Center, Army Spokesperson Team stated this on 23 July 2025.
05:29Lieutenant General Meili Sokita,
05:31the Cambodia Ministry of National Defense Spokesperson while addressing the press and the public on Saturday,
05:38said that
05:381. Thailand keeps expanding its military,
05:42including infantry forces, heavy weaponry, and fighter jets.
05:47Thai forces launched indiscriminate attacks that targeted no specific objectives and destroyed civilian infrastructure,
05:54including schools, villages, markets, health facilities, gas stations, temples, and World Heritage Sites.
06:02These attacks have also harmed innocent civilians,
06:06children, women, and the elderly,
06:09who are currently at serious risk.
06:12This constitutes a violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions.
06:172. Please take note that Thai troops,
06:20employing F-16 fighter jets,
06:22rained bombs on civilian settlements,
06:24killing and injuring several civilians.
06:26In Oda Minchi province,
06:285 Cambodian soldiers and 8 civilians were killed,
06:32and 21 Cambodian soldiers and 50 civilians were injured,
06:36while around 35,000 people in four provinces,
06:40Oda Minchi,
06:41Priya Vihia,
06:42Persit,
06:43and Bante Minchi,
06:45were forced to leave their homes as a result of these attacks.
06:483. The Thai side continues to escalate by aggressively deploying troops to attack multiple Cambodian targets,
06:56showing no signs of de-escalation.
06:59At the same time,
07:00Thailand has declared martial law in Trat and Chanthaburi provinces
07:04and has begun expanding its military forces and armaments under the Operation Chakrabong's Bhuvanath plan.
07:104. Thailand has deliberately launched unprovoked attacks against Cambodia
07:15and is increasingly violating Cambodian sovereignty,
07:19while continuing to make exaggerated and unfounded accusations against Cambodia.
07:24This clearly reveals a premeditated plan to invade Cambodia.
07:285. The Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia calls on the international community,
07:34including the United Nations Security Council, ASEAN, international partners,
07:40and diplomatic missions,
07:42to strongly condemn the brazen and reckless aggression against Cambodia.
07:466. We call on the international community to take urgent measures
07:50to prevent further troop deployments aimed at attacking Cambodia,
07:54to ensure that Thailand respects the full territorial integrity of Cambodia,
07:59and to hold Thailand accountable for its violations of the United Nations Charter,
08:03the Geneva Conventions, and the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
08:087. Cambodia remains firmly committed to resolving the issue peacefully in
08:13accordance with international law while reserving our right to self-defense
08:17under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and to defend our people,
08:23sovereignty, and territorial integrity to the fullest extent against Thailand's aggression and violent acts.
08:298. Thailand's incursions have expanded to other provinces of
08:33Cambodia, including five artillery attacks in Edmar Dar Commune,
08:37Vyl Veng District, Persid Province.
08:40In the fourth zone, Thailand also launched attacks in three locations,
08:45Vyl Intri, Tathav, and Chom Thi, on the morning of July 26.
08:509. Cambodia once again condemns the aggression and premeditated provocations by Thailand.
08:57Cambodia reaffirms our commitment to maintaining peace and security
09:01but nevertheless reserves the right to defend our sovereignty as a victim of the Thais' violations.
09:07We assert our principle of targeting only military objectives on the Thai side,
09:12ensuring that civilians remain unharmed.
09:1510. Thus far, the Cambodian army has remained resolute and unwavering in its defense of Cambodia's
09:22territorial integrity, standing firm against the threats and coercion from Thailand,
09:27the Cambodian National Defense stated.
09:30The Cambodia Ministry of Information also in a statement on Saturday, stated that,
09:35Thailand is using information manipulation warfare strategies to fabricate pretexts for its armed
09:41aggression of Cambodian territory, while falsely portraying itself as the victim.
09:46We would like to inform our fellow Cambodian citizens that the Thai media has colluded with
09:51the Thai government and military to fabricate and disseminate fake news aimed at demonizing Cambodia,
09:57in order to create a pretext for their own armed invasion and violation of Cambodia's territorial integrity.
10:04Both the Thai government, its military, and media outlets have employed deceptive tactics to provoke incidents
10:11according to their premeditated invasion plans.
10:15The Thai military's armed incursion was carefully planned and prepared long in advance.
10:20The blueprint of Thailand's military aggression is clear, beginning with a preemptive attack on Cambodian forces,
10:27followed by shamelessly placing all blame on Cambodia without any sense of remorse or accountability.
10:33Cambodia tells the truth.
10:36Thailand lies to the world.
10:38Cambodia has no interest in invading Thailand.
10:41Euronews reported that, as the conflict between the two countries enters its third day,
10:47at least 30 people have been killed and thousands forced to flee their homes.
10:52Cambodia's UN ambassador, Chi Kyo called for an, immediate, unconditional, ceasefire with Thailand
10:59on Friday after the dispute between the two countries entered its third day.
11:03The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting behind closed doors late Friday in New York,
11:10with all 15 members calling on the parties to de-escalate, show restraint and resolve the dispute peacefully.
11:16We also call for the peaceful solution to the dispute, said Chi Kyo.
11:21He responded to accusations that Cambodia attacked Thailand,
11:25asking how a small country with no air force could attack a much larger country with an army three times its size,
11:33stressing, we do not do that.
11:35Thailand's UN ambassador left the meeting without stopping to talk to reporters.
11:39But Thailand's acting Prime Minister Phum Tham Wechayoi said Friday that Cambodia may be guilty of war crimes
11:47due to the deaths of civilians and damage caused to a hospital.
11:51He said Thailand had exercised the utmost restraint and patience in the face of provocations and aggression from Cambodia.
11:59Meanwhile, the Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Saturday evening stated that,
12:05Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that, a few moments ago,
12:10Acting Prime Minister Phum Tham Wechayoi had a conversation with President Trump who requested that Thailand and
12:16Cambodia agree to a ceasefire immediately.
12:20Acting Prime Minister thanked President Trump for his concern and expressed that Thailand agrees in principle to have a ceasefire in place.
12:28However, Thailand would like to see sincere intention from the Cambodian side.
12:33Acting Prime Minister thus requested President Trump to convey to the Cambodian side that Thailand wants to convene a bilateral dialogue as soon as possible
12:43to bring forth measures and procedures for the ceasefire and the eventual peaceful resolution of the conflict.
12:49It would be recalled that on June 26, 2025, the Kingdom of Cambodia had stated in its government website that,
12:57Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Mane raised concerns about the lack of clarity and inconsistency between the Thai Prime Minister and the Thai military regarding the
13:07closure and reopening of border checkpoints with Cambodia.
13:11Sandek Thapade noted that at times the border was completely closed, only to be reopened in certain areas.
13:17However, the reopened checkpoints permitted only limited movement, barring general public crossing, while Thailand shifted the blame to Cambodia for
13:27initiating the closure.
13:29The Premier spoke on Thursday, June 26, at the graduation ceremony at the Police Academy of Cambodia in Kandil Province.
13:38The Premier explained that on 24 June 2025, the Thai Prime Minister publicly announced a full border closure with Cambodia,
13:46citing the United Nations reports alleging that Cambodia was a hub for online criminal activity.
13:53Exceptions were made only for students and critically ill patients.
13:57Thai military forces began implementing the closure on that same day.
14:01Yet, later in the evening, the spokesperson for Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs came forward stating that Thailand had not officially closed its borders.
14:10Then, on the morning of the 25th of June, Thai military personnel reopened some border gates for the purpose of taking photos, though the restrictions on cross-border travel remained in effect.
14:23Cambodia does not play such covered games.
14:26If we act, we take responsibility.
14:29We already made our stance clear.
14:32If you, Thailand, close the border, we will close it indefinitely until you officially reopen it.
14:38If we continue to react to your inconsistent moves, then we will never know when this will end, the Premier underscored.
14:46Sandek Thapade reaffirmed that he is currently awaiting individuals in Thailand who will hold genuine power and adopt a clear and consistent stance,
14:55with whom Cambodia can reliably engage in good faith, in order to seek joint solutions that benefit both nations and their peoples.
15:02A Malaysia-based news media, The Star, reported that, Malaysia will continue engaging Cambodia and Thailand to achieve a ceasefire in the ongoing border clashes,
15:14says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
15:18The Prime Minister said that although both leaders had initially agreed to a ceasefire,
15:23fighting still persisted along the disputed border.
15:26Anwar said he has told Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Hassan to contact his Thai and Cambodian counterparts for talks.
15:35Maybe, I will directly contact them to at least stop the shooting and continue the negotiations, said Anwar.
15:42Anwar said that during his initial call to the two leaders, they had thanked him for facilitating talks.
15:48Even though they agreed to it, there is still shooting at the border, added Anwar.
15:54Anwar, on Friday, July 25, stated that Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to a ceasefire,
16:01but requested some time as their troops were already stationed at the border and needed time to withdraw.
16:07Both countries have accused each other of starting the military clashes
16:11and have downgraded the diplomatic relations since Wednesday, July 23rd.
16:17Tensions between Thailand and Cambodia have been escalating since May 28th,
16:22following a deadly incident in the Priya Vihir area that claimed the life of a Cambodian soldier.
16:28The two countries have been at odds for decades over various under-marketed points along their 817km-long border.
16:36United States, U.S. President, Donald Trump who is currently in Scotland,
16:42said while at a golf course on Saturday that he, just spoke to the Prime Minister of Cambodia,
16:48relative to stopping the war with Thailand.
16:50I am calling the acting Prime Minister of Thailand, right now, to likewise request a ceasefire,
16:57and end to the war, which is currently raging.
17:00We happen to be, by coincidence, currently dealing on trade with both countries,
17:05but do not want to make any deal, with either country, if they are fighting, and I have told them so.
17:12The call with Thailand is being made momentarily.
17:15The call with Cambodia has ended, but expect a call back regarding war stoppage and ceasefire
17:21based on what Thailand has to say.
17:24I am trying to simplify a complex situation.
17:27Many people are being killed in this war,
17:29but it very much reminds me of the conflict between Pakistan and India,
17:34which was brought to a successful halt.
17:37Prime Minister of Thailand,
17:39Pai Tongtan Shinawat,
17:40who is currently on suspension in a press statement,
17:43said that,
17:44I would like to emphasize and reaffirm the government's statement
17:47that Cambodia's actions constitute a severe war crime,
17:51in violation of peaceful principles under the framework of international law
17:55and the humanitarian principles that Thailand has consistently upheld.
18:00The escalation of violence is something the government does not desire
18:04and has made every effort to prevent.
18:06However, when the opposing side initiated firing first,
18:11it became necessary to respond decisively and appropriately.
18:15Although I am unable to perform my duties in person,
18:18I have been closely monitoring the situation and receiving reports,
18:22doing everything within my capacity.
18:24I wish to send my encouragement and concern
18:27to all officials and fellow citizens along the border.
18:31I believe that every mechanism of the government
18:33is fully prepared to support the work of security forces
18:36and care for our fellow citizens to the fullest extent.
18:40This includes on-site visits by the cabinet
18:43and the establishment of compensation guidelines
18:45for those who have lost their lives or been injured.
18:49At the same time,
18:50the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
18:52has utilized every channel of communication
18:54with the international community
18:56to clarify the facts regarding the cause of the conflict,
18:59which stems from the Thai government's efforts
19:01to crack down on call center crimes,
19:04dismantling a network of immense financial interests
19:07linked to influential groups in Cambodia.
19:10This is to protect Thai citizens
19:12and those of many other countries affected by this operation.
19:15I believe this may be the primary reason
19:18for Cambodia's anger, or perhaps not.
19:21Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
19:24has presented evidence of Cambodia's unjust actions,
19:27including violations of treaties,
19:30international law, human rights principles,
19:33and severe inhumanity,
19:35such as the illicit planting of landmines,
19:37initiating attacks,
19:39and targeting civilian sites such as hospitals and homes,
19:42resulting in numerous Thai casualties and injuries.
19:46These points have been raised on international platforms as well.
19:50In this situation,
19:51Thai people must unite and stand together as one.
19:54We will not yield to such despicable tactics,
19:57and nothing can overcome the unity of the Thai people.
20:01Regarding proposals from various countries to end the violence,
20:04I believe the government is ready to listen,
20:06but the key lies in the attitude and sincerity,
20:10which, so far,
20:11we have not seen from Cambodia in this matter.
20:14On behalf of the Ministry of Culture,
20:17I express my boundless gratitude
20:19for the gracious compassion of
20:20His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen,
20:24who have shown concern for the military personnel
20:26and citizens in the Thai-Cambodia border provinces.
20:30Their majesties have graciously taken
20:32all those who lost their lives
20:34or were injured in the unrest in these areas
20:36under their royal patronage,
20:38bringing immense joy and gratitude
20:40to the families of the deceased and injured,
20:42as well as to Thai subjects across the country.
20:46Under the mission of the Ministry of Culture,
20:48I have urgently ordered two key tasks.
20:511. Ceremonial funerals granted by royal decree.
20:55As the agency responsible for conducting funerals
20:58granted by royal decree,
21:00we will carry out the tasks
21:01in accordance with the royal instructions
21:03from the Bureau of the Royal Household
21:05with utmost dignity and adherence
21:07to traditional royal customs.
21:102. Other assigned support missions
21:12from the provinces,
21:13such as caring for the injured,
21:15providing essential supplies and necessities,
21:18collaborating with relevant agencies
21:20to provide psychological support
21:21for those affected,
21:23and deploying personnel to assess damages
21:25in accordance with the Ministry's responsibilities,
21:28such as historical sites in the area,
21:30to evaluate damage and secure funding
21:32for restoration and repairs moving forward.
21:36First and foremost,
21:37I would like to reiterate
21:38Deputy Prime Minister Phum Thum's yesterday statement
21:41that Cambodia Act of Aggression
21:43constitutes a grave war crime
21:45that violates the principles of peaceful resolution
21:48under international law
21:49and humanitarian principles,
21:51which Thailand has always upheld.
21:54However, the government does not condone violence
21:57and has made every effort to avoid it.
22:00But when the Cambodian side
22:01initiates the use of arms,
22:03it is necessary for us to response
22:05in an appropriate manner.
22:07Prime Minister of Cambodia,
22:09Samdek Mohaborva Thapade Hun Mane says
22:12while clarifying Cambodia's stance
22:14on the ceasefire proposed by Anwar Ibrahim,
22:18the Prime Minister of Malaysia
22:19and rotating chair of ASEAN that,
22:21given some unclear reporting
22:23in various international news outlets
22:25regarding Cambodia's position
22:27on the ceasefire proposed by His Excellency,
22:30Anwar Ibrahim,
22:31Prime Minister of Malaysia
22:33and the rotating ASEAN chair,
22:35I am obliged to clarify as follows.
22:38Yesterday evening,
22:39on the 24th of July 2025,
22:42His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim,
22:44Prime Minister of Malaysia
22:46and the rotating ASEAN chair,
22:48requested a phone conversation
22:49with me to discuss the fighting
22:51between the Cambodian and Thai militaries
22:53along the border.
22:55He expressed his concern
22:56over the conflict
22:57and his desire for an immediate ceasefire
22:59to pave way for a resolution
23:01between the two sides.
23:03I made it clear to His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim
23:06that Cambodia agreed with his proposal
23:08for a ceasefire
23:09because Cambodia did not initiate this fighting.
23:13An initial response I received
23:14from His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim
23:16after he spoke with His Excellency
23:18Pham Tham Wechayoi,
23:20acting Prime Minister of Thailand,
23:22was that the Thai side
23:23had agreed to his proposal
23:24for a ceasefire,
23:26setting 12 a.m. on the 24th of July 2025
23:29as the time for both sides
23:31to cease the fighting.
23:33However,
23:34it is regrettable that just over an hour later,
23:37the Thai side informed
23:38that they had reversed their position
23:40from agreeing to the ceasefire
23:41at 12 a.m. on the 24th of July 2025
23:45to not agreeing and waiting for a later date.
23:48His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim
23:50is well aware of this situation.
23:53Therefore,
23:54the key to resolving the current armed conflict
23:56between Thailand and Cambodia
23:58is the genuine willingness
23:59of the Thai side
24:00to accept a ceasefire,
24:02which is the first step
24:03towards finding further solutions
24:05between the two countries.
24:07Even though there is currently fighting
24:09between the Cambodian and Thai armies
24:11at the border,
24:12I appeal to all Cambodian citizens
24:14to maintain their morality and dignity
24:16and to avoid discrimination
24:18or any actions that could affect
24:20the Royal Thai Embassy in Cambodia,
24:23Thai companies,
24:24and Thai citizens living in Cambodia.
24:26For Cambodian citizens
24:28who are living, working,
24:29or studying in Thailand
24:30and may be facing pressure
24:32from discrimination
24:33and wish to return to Cambodia,
24:35please come back to our country.
24:37If you need assistance,
24:39please contact the Royal Embassy
24:40of Cambodia in Bangkok
24:42or the Consulate General of Cambodia
24:44in S.A. Kyo province in Thailand.
24:47Sincere thanks to our Cambodian compatriots
24:49for coming together in large numbers
24:51for the blood donation,
24:53responding to the heartfelt appeal
24:54of H.E. Dr. Pick Chanmoney
24:56on the evening of July 24.
24:59As a result of the blood donation drive,
