00:00All right, so we are ready for the show that Rohan Polanco promised.
00:24He says, look, Quentin Randall, I know he's good.
00:28He gave Ryan Norman a good fight.
00:30He has special talent.
00:32He knows how to move, but that means that I have to take the fight to him because he's
00:37not going to come to me.
00:38Absolutely.
00:40And that's how you're going to have to get it done against a, I would say, pure boxer
00:44and Randall.
00:50Round one of the schedule 10 rounder, Bernardo Osuna, alongside the Hall of Famer, Timothy
00:55Desert Storm Bradley.
00:56We've got Mark Kriegel, Joe Tessitore.
00:59The entire family is here inside the theater at MSG.
01:04You almost forgot your name for a second.
01:05I did because I was trying to say Hall of Famer.
01:08I was thinking faster than I was speaking.
01:11I was speaking faster than I was thinking.
01:12Either way, I messed it up.
01:13I almost had a Mamera's moment.
01:21Mamera.
01:22I watched that video the other day, man.
01:24Oh, my gosh.
01:26That was one.
01:27That was on my birthday, too, man.
01:29That was it?
01:30Yeah.
01:30Yeah.
01:30And I was vegan branding, too.
01:32That was probably.
01:33Yeah, it was vegan branding, man.
01:35That's what you're trying to make it for the Hall of Fame, huh?
01:37Get yourself down to your fighting weight.
01:39Right.
01:39Right.
01:41When your teefuses was really, really big, they didn't fit in your skull, bro.
01:45Right here, you see the boxing skill that Polanco was referring to when he was speaking about Randall.
01:53Just knows how to use range.
01:54He's taller, works from the outside.
01:57It's going to be a very difficult.
01:58Look, look.
01:59This can be a very difficult fight for Polanco tonight, or it can be an easy fight.
02:04But I know at the start, at the onslaught, it's going to be a difficult fight because of the range of Randall.
02:12He understands range.
02:13He uses his range very well.
02:14He understands boxing.
02:15He's a late starter, too, in the game at 21 years old.
02:18Yeah, absolutely.
02:19So he started at 12 years old, and then he got himself into legal trouble, went to jail, didn't make his pro debut until age 21.
02:27But before then, Tim, he was the Team USA captain with Kay Karoma.
02:34And, you know, his young son died for now when he was 8 years old in a car accident five years after he was released from prison.
02:42And he says, boxing saved my life.
02:44He's one of those redemption stories.
02:46And that's why I was mentioning he's a huge fan of what Bernard Hopkins was able to do, even as a 40-plus-year-old, to continue in this sport.
02:56It's a beautiful story, man.
03:01Tonight, he's in against this young bull named Rohan Polanco.
03:06And look, Polanco tonight, because he doesn't too much have to worry about what I'm receiving in.
03:12I mean, look at the knockouts.
03:13There's only three knockouts on Randall.
03:15I mean, any shot that you don't see can definitely hurt you.
03:17But he's going to have to take some more chances to be able to close that distance.
03:22Because Randall, again, he's very tricky.
03:24But Polanco's exactly where he needs to be right now.
03:27And that's close and near the ropes.
03:29Randall has a tendency of languishing along the ropes for long periods of time.
03:35If you put him in that position, Polanco can go to work and he can win a lot of these rounds.
03:40See that flicking, Larry Holmes-type jab of Quentin Randall here early on in the first round of this fight.
03:49Let's listen in to Hector Vermoudez with Polanco.
03:55He may decide to just stand up.
03:58He's seen that before.
04:05Hey, Johan Guzman in the corner of Rohan Polanco.
04:08That's my dog.
04:09Hey, we look like brothers right now, man.
04:11He looks big, too.
04:13I thought I was me for a minute, huh?
04:17Hey, he's the first one that gave me my stamp.
04:20You know how, like, when you spar against, like, pros and stuff?
04:24No, he gave Crawford his, but he gave me hers.
04:26No, he gave you.
04:27I gave Crawford his, but he gave me mine.
04:29And I wasn't even a pro yet.
04:31So I was deciding the term pro, you know,
04:34and I was training with Joel Diaz,
04:36and he was in the gym training out there in Coachella.
04:38I got my shot at him.
04:40We sparred, and he was just like, bro, you're a world champion.
04:42I said, thank you.
04:43And from there, the confidence risen.
04:46And he didn't say you were a Hall of Famer?
04:49That Hall of Fame stamp, you got to earn that.
04:52There you go.
04:52And you got to earn that by fighting the best guys over and over and over.
04:57All right, Quentin Randall in the white trunks off to a quick start there
04:59with that leaping left hook,
05:01and Rohan Polanco trying to get inside that 8-inch reach advantage.
05:0577 to 69 in terms of reach.
05:08Nice double left hook there from Polanco that Randall says,
05:11I rode with it.
05:12Yeah, and Randall said he rode with it.
05:14Why he was shaking his head?
05:15He got hit with a right hand from Polanco.
05:16So you're not rolling this one?
05:19Yeah, you're not rolling.
05:20Go ahead and shake your head all you want.
05:21Take that right hand.
05:24And I'm surprised at the physicality that.
05:30Rohan?
05:32Yeah, because look, Rohan is strong.
05:35Randall seems to be dealing with the strength and pushing him off.
05:39He's on his own side.
05:41Strong.
05:43There you see exactly what you were talking about.
05:45Randall pushing Rohan back and then landing a left hook.
05:48That's what I'm saying.
05:49Polanco trying to set up the right hand
05:51and the right uppercut there from Randall.
05:53He's tricky.
05:55Got long arms.
05:58Got very long arms, but he knows how to shorten his shots up.
06:00He got a nice little chopping shots on the inside,
06:03but then there's moments where he just sits in that high guard,
06:05and that's where Polanco's going to be able to have success.
06:08Right there in the mid-range to inside.
06:12Randall belongs on the outside.
06:14That's where he belongs.
06:15That's where he's going to do most of his damage, out at range.
06:21See, Randall, he already knows how to defeat that system,
06:24that Mayweather system.
06:25You see him jabbing right down in that hole between that low guard
06:29and that high guard up here, man, with the right hand.
06:33Smart fighter.
06:33See the crease?
06:34The crease right there?
06:35He knows how to beat that.
06:37Oh, that's a nice shot to the body there from Polanco.
06:39Polanco, and then he goes upstairs with a double jab.
06:42You know why he's able to land that shot?
06:44Why's that?
06:45Because Randall, he has a narrow, bladed stance, so he's giving you less body,
06:50so he's leaving that flank open.
06:52See how he's showing?
06:55He's not showing a whole lot of body.
06:59More of a bladed type of stance he's using.
07:02Good jab.
07:03If I stand that way, you're not going to see my belly?
07:06Well, it's going to be harder to hit it.
07:07Okay.
07:08He's got the right hand to be able to block the hook,
07:10and he has that low lead hand to be able to block that right hand to the body.
07:15Nice body shot there from Randall,
07:16and then Polanco still has to reach
07:17because he's got an eight-inch reach event to land that shot.
07:20And he has to come around that lead, right?
07:23Nice stab jab.
07:25Randall, Polanco's there with a quick left.
07:27Yeah, it's going to be about fighting the night for Polanco.
07:29It's going to be about fighting.
07:32But he cannot get careless because Randall, he's a sniper.
07:36Break, break, break, break, break, break, break, link.
07:38Here we go.
07:39Turn around.
07:39Turn around, baby.
07:43Stomping the bell!
07:45Yes!
07:47There it is.
07:49I mean, none of those really landed cleanly, though.
07:51So Randall's there was another way.
07:52Oh, that's it, baby.
07:53That's it.
07:54Oh!
07:56That's a little frustration for Rand.
07:58Hey, that's dangerous, Tim,
07:59because the stool was already in that ring, too.
08:01That is dangerous.
08:02It's not Benny Blanco.
08:04That is Xander Sainz.
08:06Benny Blanco.
08:07Because, look, he's walking into the theater of the MSG for the eighth time as a professional,
08:14seeking to become the youngest active male world champion.
08:1722 years old, 330 days, he's all business tonight, and he is as comfortable as can be inside this arena.
08:27And he knows the crowd is going to be 100% behind him.
08:30Oh, absolutely.
08:31It's just, it's home away from home.
08:33Again, I mean, it's eighth time here in this arena, and all the fans, the Puerto Rican fans are going to come out and support him, man.
08:38This is going to be special, man.
08:40Look, Tim, this is the list of the youngest fighters, and you talk about a pound-for-pounder in Jesse Bam Rodriguez,
08:45who took a risk early on in his career, he's now 25 years old, currently the youngest champion is Brian Norman Jr.
08:52Xander Sainz, if he's able to defeat a tough Jorge Garcia, he would be earning his world title that 22 years, 330 days old.
09:03For now, we're inside the ring with Rohan Polanco, the Dominican fighter who's 16-0 with 10 knockouts, taking on Quinton Randall.
09:1015-2-1 with only three knockouts.
09:13He's a stylist.
09:13He's more of a boxer.
09:15But if you make a mistake, he'll make you pay.
09:18Look at Randall as he's moving, using those legs, and he's dropping feints, and then he's putting that lead hand out there, that long guard,
09:26to be able to keep Polanco out at base.
09:29Good step in right there, raising blow right there from Polanco with the right hand.
09:34That's the second-level attack that I talk about.
09:37A lot of guys, they just use one jab to try to close distance.
09:39You can close the distance with two shots.
09:43Great attempt right there from Polanco, but it was definitely a grazing shot.
09:48It's interesting because Polanco likes to fight out of that silly shell, but he's going to have to get out of that shell in order to attack Randall.
09:55And he tries to leap in with that overhand right at the ear.
09:58And he got his attention, too.
10:00And he kind of blurred his vision, too, when he took that shot.
10:03So you saw the legs.
10:05Just a little bit.
10:06I buzzed a little bit.
10:08Break!
10:08Not break!
10:09No punching!
10:09Lined him a little with that jab, and then came over the top.
10:12Made him commit.
10:14At the same time, when you put that high guard up, it blocked your vision.
10:17So with Perifio, anything coming around, you don't see coming.
10:22So he gets hit high on the temple to see those legs buckle, for sure.
10:28Equilibrium shot.
10:30I hope I said that right.
10:31You did.
10:31You didn't say peripheral right, but you did say equilibrium right.
10:34Peripheral.
10:35Peripheral.
10:35Peripheral.
10:36Peripheral.
10:37We'll talk about it during the break.
10:39You know, you know, Ruslan beat the R's out.
10:41That's what he said, Mamiris.
10:44I'm going to call you Tim Badley.
10:49Badley.
10:52Man.
10:52That's a nice right to the body from Franco.
11:03Yeah.
11:03Yes, it was.
11:04See the opening?
11:05Nice setup.
11:06But you see how Polanco is rushing in.
11:09You know, those are moments where Randall's going to have to time him.
11:12He's going to have to be quick on the trigger.
11:14I have to time those rushes.
11:16But Polanco, again, he's changing levels.
11:18You see him drop his level, come up with a shot, and then you see him faint a little bit.
11:23Breaking up his rhythm.
11:25And it's making it hard for Randall to time him on the way in, but he's going to have to sit and wait and anticipate.
11:32Good right hand to the body from Randall right there.
11:35Don't look like much.
11:36Oh, got him reaching again.
11:38Stop.
11:38Break.
11:39Break, break, break, break, break.
11:40Way to go.
11:41Break, break.
11:41There we go.
11:43Go.
11:45Stop at the bell.
11:53Flurry there between these two, and I think he's trying to finally heat up.
11:57And Polanco commits, and Quinton Randall tries to counter.
12:02Things will heat up at 9 p.m. Eastern when we move over to ESPN for Emiliano El General.
12:07Fernando Vargas' 15th professional fight.
12:10He's only been a pro for three years, and he says,
12:12Look, I believe I should be the main event, but I'm humble enough to understand that Xander's fighting for a world title in a place that's basically his hometown.
12:20Shushu is fighting at home at 28 for his first world title.
12:24So he believes that he can be boxing's next superstar, that he has everything it takes inside and outside the ring to transcend into the mainstream.
12:34Yeah, I mean, and he's also willing to put in the work.
12:36See, that's the difference.
12:38I don't care how good you look or how good your body is.
12:41If you're willing to put in the work inside the gym and develop your skills and develop a strong mindset like this young man, then, yes, the sky's the limit for him, man.
12:51But, look, wait your turn.
12:53Your time will come.
12:54Right now, it's Xander's eyes time.
12:56He talked about how his father's bout with alcoholism helped him really hone in and say,
13:04Look, whatever the other guys are doing, I'm not going to be that guy.
13:08I'm going to work harder.
13:09I'm going to work smarter.
13:11And when it's my time, I'm going to make sure that I have longevity in this sport.
13:15And he surrounded himself with some really smart people outside of the sport, really, to guide him into the next level.
13:20Look, you can learn from other people's mistakes, man.
13:25You know, his dad has lived his road.
13:27And so he's listening to his father, right?
13:30And I'm sure as a kid, he didn't like certain things, I'm sure.
13:35You know?
13:36And so it's an easy decision for him.
13:39And his dad said, Look, I taught my kids this.
13:42You can learn from your mistakes.
13:44You can learn from other mistakes.
13:45And some people will just never learn.
13:48Yeah, that's facts.
13:50I never learned, though.
13:54You've worked so hard, Tim.
13:55I'm a witness of that.
13:56Both in the ring, in the gym, and as a broadcaster, your growth has been impressive to see.
14:02And here you see Roja Polanco.
14:04Shake Randall, center backwards with a left and a right hook.
14:08How can he capitalize?
14:10Can he land that corkscrew Polanco?
14:12El Rayo.
14:14I talked about the ropes again.
14:16Randall got to get the...
14:18Put the fight in the center of the ring.
14:19You got to get off those ropes.
14:21He likes the language along the ropes, and he just tucks up into that high guard.
14:24Polanco's going to go to work on him.
14:27And again, it's like, he don't have the punching power really to, like, change the time of the fight.
14:33Now, of course, the punch you don't see can definitely hurt you, and you've timed it the right way.
14:36But he's now allowed Polanco to close the gap.
14:44This is not the range that Randall is most effective at.
14:47But that's been the problem with Randall.
14:49Like, it's like, stay disciplined, man, and keep doing what's working.
14:54The last round, I loved the close because he had him out at range, and he was landing shots from out at distance.
15:00And now he's allowing him to just close that distance, man.
15:02And you've got to fight against that freaking current, man.
15:05You know, and those types of flurries, you can't have an 8-inch reach advantage and allow your opponent to just walk you down.
15:16That's what you have to put out there.
15:18That's thick.
15:18Exactly.
15:19And don't break down technically.
15:20And he's starting to break down a little bit.
15:22Take a nice little sneak look right there, change-up shot.
15:25That's a change-up.
15:25That's a curveball right there.
15:27Flash the jab, flash the jab, up, curveball.
15:29Hook.
15:29Oh.
15:30Sneak that in there, right?
15:31Yes.
15:32That's what I'm saying.
15:34You've got to remain mentally strong and physically strong and keep the fight on the outside where you're going to dominate the fight.
15:41And you know when it happens to Tim?
15:42When Polanco was talking to him.
15:44He's like, you do the talking, I'm going to sneak this left, right in there.
15:46Exactly.
15:47And he's done that already multiple times.
15:50Remember that right hand he landed when he was talking?
15:53Yeah.
15:53Yeah.
15:54So those are moments when you're not thinking.
15:57You're doing something else.
15:58You're occupied.
15:59So sneak them.
16:00And that's smart.
16:01Good to see Polanco understand that.
16:17Polanco trying to mix up the defense and offense here through the first four rounds of the fight against Quinton Randall.
16:23Yeah, Randall bouncing on his toes right here, trying to change up his rhythm.
16:26Shoots a jab, but he steps in too close.
16:29You got that 70-something-inch reach, man.
16:30You don't have to step in all the way.
16:32Right there, he made that mistake and got snuck, right, with shots.
16:36And then another thing.
16:37See, jab, a little bit too close.
16:40Got clipped with the right hand.
16:41Here's the follow-up shot.
16:42Yeah, go ahead and talk.
16:43Yep, you occupy.
16:44You're not even thinking.
16:45Leave yourself wide open.
16:47Nice swivel jab.
16:48Follow-up right hand.
16:49Feet got a little bit tangled up.
16:50He's okay.
16:51Look at his eyes.
16:52The eyes tell you everything you need to know.
16:54He was okay with that shot.
16:56More a little bit.
16:57I think you say more so out-bounds, right?
16:59Absolutely.
17:00Yeah.
17:04And, Bernardo, you gave me some props.
17:06Man, you're the hardest-working dude I've ever seen in the business, man.
17:10I'm showing you love right now, bro.
17:12The hardest-working man in the business, hands down.
17:17Appreciate it, brother.
17:18MVP.
17:19You do it all.
17:21We love what we do, brother.
17:22Yes.
17:22That's what's important.
17:22Absolutely.
17:23And I love the people like him.
17:25I'm just trying to be like you.
17:27Belanco's trying to be like all the great champions in the world right now at Welterweight.
17:31Look, he gave us a breakdown of the division.
17:33He said, look, even at 140, I'd go down to challenge Suvier Matias.
17:38He says, that would be easy work because I would tame that bull.
17:41Ooh.
17:42Okay.
17:42But he said at 47, Norman, you've got to respect him.
17:46He's the champion.
17:47He said Barrios would be easy.
17:49Roley has an awkward style.
17:50He's got some pop.
17:51Haney's intelligent.
17:52Teofimo's crazy, but he is talented.
17:55So he did break down the whole weight class.
17:57Man.
17:58And he said, you know, the best in the weight class just left.
18:02Boots.
18:03Yeah.
18:04Absolutely.
18:04Moving up to 154.
18:06Smart man.
18:08Anyhow, you see the guard change, the guard adjustment.
18:10Now he's going back into that Mayweather-esque Philly shell.
18:14But he's using the high guard right now, though, to walk down Randall.
18:19And it's starting to work.
18:22It's working.
18:24He's staying close enough to be able to counter now.
18:27Randall's shots don't have enough, don't have a lot of authority on it now.
18:30He's starting to break down physically.
18:33Been taking shots to the body and to the head.
18:39Stop, stop, stop.
18:40Just that minor little guard change is the difference.
18:44Give him a different look, something he hasn't seen.
18:47Look, Polanco knew what he was in against against Quentin Randall.
18:50He says, look, and you said it too, Tim.
18:52This could be a long night or a short night.
18:54It's turning out to be a longer night because Randall is as tricky as they come.
18:58He knows his strengths and his skill set, and he's using those to the maximum of his ability.
19:03Yeah, Randall, he takes rounds off, too.
19:05You know, he can be outworked.
19:07You know.
19:07And when you have a guy that can move like Randall, of course, I mean, the moving target is harder to hit than the stationary target.
19:14So he's forcing Polanco to really go into his bag to figure it out and to figure out that puzzle that he has.
19:28See how he's just leaning to the side and, you know, just buying time again.
19:33Now it seems like, to me, that Randall's in survival mode.
19:36That's always been his M.O.
19:38You put him in this position, he languished along the ropes.
19:41I already know.
19:42If you're going to be winning, you can beat him.
19:45That's great body work there from Rohan Polanco.
19:50Polanco cutting off the ring now.
19:51You see him not following him.
19:53He's starting to cut off the ring.
19:56Polanco probably thinking at this time, all right, I'll take a little half a round off as well if you're going to give me that rest.
20:02And look, tonight's main event features Xander Zayas fighting at home.
20:05He'll be taking on Mexico's Jorge Garcia Perez from the boxing hotbed of Los Mochis.
20:10And Garcia, who just arrived in the arena, says, I know what I have to achieve against Xander in his hometown to become a world titleist.
20:19But the 33-4 veteran says, being the underdog, he wouldn't have it any other way.
20:24You were a 12-1 underdog against Charles Conwell.
20:29What happened?
20:30El hambre de ganar fue algo que significó mucho para mÃ, mi equipo y mi familia.
20:36Que sabÃamos que era un escalón más para llegar a esta oportunidad que tenÃamos.
20:40How do you see this fight going?
20:45Does it go the distance?
20:49Why are you smiling?
20:54You said you came from nothing.
20:55What does this fight mean?
20:57In a city that is plagued by gun violence and drugs, a young man like Jorge Garcia Perez, Tim, his demeanor at the fighter meeting was so calm.
21:14Like, it's almost like he's done this before, right? He's been here before. You know, it's always scary when you see a fighter that's fighting for his world championship for the first time and they remain calm, cool, and collected and poised.
21:29He had that look on his face, man, in fighter meeting, man. I believe he's going to come and fight and bring the best that has ever been here.
21:49It's going to be Mexico-Puerto Rico in tonight's main event.
21:52We move over there at 9 p.m. Eastern after the conclusion of this undercard, Rohan Polanco, it'll be Emiliano and General Fernando Vargas opening the show.
22:05Just a little over 25 minutes. Hope you'll join us.
22:10Nice combination of punching down there, but the warning from referee Sean Clark that they were a little low.
22:15He did well to break through the guard early on, and then Randall made the adjustments.
22:25It has been difficult for Polanco to connect on this 5'11", 77-inch reach, 8 inches in reach advantage for Quinton Randall.
22:35You've got to lay off. You've got to try to take the lay off the power, and you've got to use more speed.
22:41That's what Polanco asked him to do.
22:42He tried to feint him there, but Randall really didn't bite.
22:49Throwing his body, and sets up the overhand shot from Polanco, but good defense from Randall.
22:55Polanco looking to slip inside of the jab, and then looking to counter.
23:00There he is. He finally found a lot of home, but the problem was he was there.
23:04He was at home plate, and then he stepped off.
23:07He should have stayed on home plate.
23:09He was there, his range.
23:11Oh, nice. Right to the, right behind the ear again as Randall takes it, and they're talking a little bit.
23:18Nice body shot there from Polanco with the right.
23:20See, let off the power, because those subtle movements that you're doing, you're loading up, Randall ain't going to beat it.
23:32He sees all that coming, so if you use the hand speed and don't telegraph your shots, you'll be able to land and get there quicker.
23:39Yes, there's a shot to the body again from Polanco.
23:46He gets rattled to commit on the defense, and then he goes downstairs.
23:51There's a switching it up, and off speed shots here from Polanco.
23:55See, in Polanco, Polanco, he wants a knockout.
24:02That's his mentality. He wants to break you down, break you down.
24:05He doesn't like going the distance.
24:07If he can get you up out of there, he's going to keep pressing and pressing and trying to find that key to open you up to finish.
24:12Six rounds in the book here. We'll listen in to Hector Bermudez for a second as Polanco decides to take a stroll and roll the dice.
24:27All right. Something that Polanco's been trying to do the entire fight, Tim, is land to the body and slow him down.
24:33Yeah, that's what you want to do, especially against a taller opposition.
24:36You want to break him down to the body. You want to bring him down to your level.
24:40Excuse me, but he's been doing it in various different ways.
24:43Right hands down to the body. Been finding opens and around that right guard.
24:47You know, stab jabs downstairs, one-twos right down on the belt line.
24:53He's doing the right things, man. It's just a matter of time.
24:55Again, Randolph, a lot of experience, a lot of a gym experience, you know.
25:01He knows how to survive, man, in these rounds.
25:05And look, Polanco was well aware of that.
25:07He says, I got to get inside the reach.
25:09He's a fighter that can make it tough for me.
25:12I'm going to be the hunter, so I'm going to have to punish him and force him to come to me.
25:16So far, through six rounds, he's making the attempt, but he hasn't been able to tame a very disciplined Quentin Randolph.
25:27I think if Randolph was a little bit more disciplined, he'll be having a lot more success.
25:31I mean, there's been a lot of times where Polanco would overreach or overcommit, leave himself wide open, where Randolph didn't make him pay, or he wasn't set to make him pay.
25:41Now Randolph now is choosing to come on the front foot and trying to push Polanco back, so let's see how that works for him.
25:48Overhand right from Rohan Polanco, but it's just one shot at a time that Quentin Randolph's giving up.
25:53And that's been, I think, his biggest strength this fight, is the fact that he's not giving up combinations.
26:00Yes!
26:01Inside, you see Bob Arum.
26:02Now he's accompanied by Abdullah Mason, who will be challenging for a world title in Riyadh in November.
26:08And Sam Mertz is the number one versus number two at 135 pounds, meet up for the WBO strap, and his father, Valiant Mason, is there with him.
26:17You give Polanco one shot, and you throw one shot at a time, man.
26:21He has such good time, and he's on the counter to have one shot.
26:24But if you throw combinations, and you set up and be receiving with things like that, like you flash the jab and shoot the right hand to the body,
26:32you're going to be able to land on him.
26:33But he's too smart, you know.
26:37You throw one shot, he's on time, man.
26:40Break, my break, no punching.
26:41Watch the hands, man. Watch the hands.
26:48These are excellent rounds for Rohan Polanco to try to, you know, think his way through a fight as opposed to just blasting guys, you know, out of there.
26:57And this is a particular style he particularly doesn't like.
27:00He doesn't like those of these guys that are, you know, so acuties or boxers that like to stay on the outside.
27:07He don't like the outboxers because he's got to go track them down.
27:11He likes guys that stand right in front of him.
27:13So he's learning.
27:14He's learning right now before he gets to his championship opportunity.
27:17Nice right hand.
27:25Straight right there from Randall.
27:26Nice right hand.
27:27He stops Polanco in his tracks.
27:29Get back.
27:31Walked him right into it.
27:33Yes.
27:35Nice.
27:36Nice.
27:37And he's shorting him up.
27:39And being more effective as Randall.
27:41He's finding a home for that shot.
27:41He's finding a home for that little right hand.
27:43Polanco's ducking into it.
27:45He might have found something.
27:46And for the other welterweights, watching Polanco, it's like, okay.
27:52Now they see something there.
27:54Yep.
27:54Nice adjustment right there from Polanco.
27:57Again, he got it a couple times.
27:59Now he's anticipating.
28:01You see he brought up that lead hand.
28:03Now he's countering with his own right.
28:04Now the guy can lull you into a sense of complacency.
28:13You ain't lying on that.
28:14Absolutely.
28:15Did you start fighting today?
28:16Rhythm and their flow.
28:18You're absolutely right.
28:20Talking about rhythm and flow.
28:21Tonight there's going to be some ritmo.
28:23Now he flew right here with this young man.
28:28Xander Zay is going for his first world title currently.
28:32Terrence Crawford holds the WBA belt.
28:33He'll be vacating that to fight Canelo Alvarez.
28:36Sebastian Sandora, who gave up the WBO belt in order to fight Tim Zhu last week.
28:41And then Murtazaliev with the IBF champion Bacrom is the other man who holds the belt.
28:48And at 154 pounds, Puerto Rico has a long lineage of men who have held those belts.
28:56Wilfred Benitez in 1981.
28:58Carlos Santos in 1984.
29:00Tito Trinidad, one of the greatest fighters the island has ever given the world.
29:05Daniel Santos at 2002.
29:07And then Miguel Cotto.
29:08So you got two of the all-time greats, Trinidad and Cotto, on that same list.
29:13Both of them champions at 154 pounds.
29:16And you know what it would mean to Xander Zay is to win a belt right here at the theater at MSG.
29:22The place that saw Trinidad and Miguel Cotto become legends.
29:26And the crazy part is, he's 22 years old.
29:29I think he's going to be the second youngest in the history.
29:32For Puerto Rico, yeah.
29:33Wilfredo Gomez El Radar was 17 years old.
29:37That's unreal.
29:3917 years.
29:40That's unreal.
29:41My gosh.
29:43Nice little slide out the door.
29:45Back door right there from Randall.
29:47Nice left there, though, by Rohan Polanco.
29:50Oh, nice right hand.
29:53Again, that was a nice right hand.
29:55Randall finding a home for that right hand.
29:58And Anko getting careless.
30:00Randall making him pay.
30:02Bring it back.
30:03Short left hook on the inside from Rohan Polanco.
30:13Not finding a lot of answers here from Rohan Polanco.
30:17It's difficult.
30:18Randall, he can fight it.
30:21Look, now Randall, second half now, he's starting to find his time and rhythm.
30:27Starting to understand the patterns of the Polanco.
30:30Oh, he didn't understand that left hook was coming.
30:32However, I'm just saying.
30:35And he's getting on that jab.
30:36Starting to get a little bit more busier with his offense and landing right hands like that.
30:40Sneak attack.
30:41You thought, oh, you didn't think I wasn't going to do anything.
30:44Then you go, take that.
30:47Look, he doesn't have a lot of power.
30:49Three knockouts, but you catch him coming in and it's going to hurt.
30:53Exactly.
30:55Now he's got Polanco respecting the power a little bit because he times it perfectly and makes him pay.
31:02Then he ties him up right there when he gets on the ropes.
31:04Now he gets himself back in the center to Randall Kent.
31:06Like, kid, that's experience.
31:09That's it.
31:10That's a lot of experience you're seeing right now from Randall.
31:16And it doesn't really matter who fights him.
31:17I mean, he's difficult for anybody.
31:19Yes!
31:21Yes!
31:21He took Brian Norman, who's currently the WBO welterweight champion, the distance.
31:41So he's tricky in there is Quinton Randall.
31:46So, like I said, these are good learning rounds, figuring things out for Rohan Polanco.
31:52Maybe not a lot of danger coming back, but, you know, these are the type of guys who frustrate you.
31:57You see how he's slipping and sliding and rolling.
32:00You know, just making Polanco miss.
32:02Rolling shots.
32:04Turning his body.
32:05These just little subtle things like that to get away from shots, man.
32:08It's difficult fighting guys like a Randall.
32:12Again, good defense right there.
32:14Stop the bell!
32:15From him.
32:16Very elusive.
32:23Time!
32:28There was three right hands that round, right?
32:31Oh, yeah.
32:31Two of them landed.
32:32Told y'all, last couple of rounds, that right hand has been money for Randall.
32:37Here he is right there.
32:38Just shorting that right hand up right there.
32:40Catch a block.
32:41Oh, I don't know if that right hand landed.
32:43Let me see.
32:43Let me see.
32:44Let me see.
32:44Yeah, it landed.
32:46Polanco stepping in, dropped his lead hand.
32:50Trying, looking for the left hook.
32:52Kept his head on the line.
32:53Then he flashes a jab at him.
32:56Come with this crazy chopping right hand.
33:00Not sure where he learned that from.
33:03However, it landed.
33:04I was confused.
33:05Hercules, Hercules and a kiss.
33:05Who is that?
33:05Oh, they're doing that whole Coldplay thing.
33:09He looked like a little actor, man.
33:13He looked like a little actor, man.
33:14Yeah, he did.
33:27Yeah, he did.
33:27Hercules, Hercules, and a kiss.
33:29Who is that?
33:29Oh, they're doing that whole Coldplay thing.
33:34He looked like a little actor, man.
33:39Yeah, he did.
33:39Yeah.
33:40You know who else he looked like?
33:41Who?
33:41Like Luis King Kong Ortiz, like a mini.
33:44You know how they do those, like when they do like that reverse aging thing?
33:48Yes.
33:48He looked like a little King Kong Ortiz.
33:52Only you.
33:53No, no.
33:56Oh.
33:58Round 9 of a scheduled 10-rounder, Bernardo Osuna,
34:01alongside the Hall of Famer, Timothy Bradley, here at the theater at MSG.
34:06And Randle getting a little bit more confident here over the last couple of rounds.
34:10Yeah, again, he got the rhythm and timing down of Polanco.
34:14Polanco starting to get a little bit wide with his shots.
34:16Not as quick as he was early on.
34:20Now he's starting to split some of those openings.
34:22Jetty has the little defensive lapses he's having.
34:25Just right to the body there from Rohan.
34:29As he's trying to get on the inside.
34:32Polanco, if I'm in Polanco's corner, I'm telling him, man, look, I want you to beat the body down.
34:37Yeah.
34:37Yeah.
34:38Just attack his body.
34:40All right?
34:42Get him blocking and defending down low.
34:46Eventually, you're going to set something up top, but I need you to focus downstairs.
34:50Heavy.
34:51Heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy.
34:52Because that's the biggest target.
34:54You saw how effective it was for Christopher Rios against Steven Navarro earlier on tonight and slowing down a talented fighter.
35:02Yes.
35:04Nice body work.
35:06Nice body work.
35:06Nice body work.
35:09There it is.
35:10And you think, if he had done this round two, three, four, five, where would Randall's legs be?
35:16Yeah, Randall protects his body extremely well.
35:19He does.
35:20Got those long arms.
35:21Got that small frame.
35:23Nice.
35:24Yes.
35:25You know, and he's always leaning away from punches.
35:28Come on.
35:29Come on.
35:30Nice.
35:31Oh, that was a right to the body.
35:33Sets up the left to the chin from Polanco.
35:35And the reason why that shot right there on that flank is fair to count it is because he's turning his body that way.
35:46I remember there was a time when Floyd Mayweather would turn his body, and you couldn't hit him in the back.
35:52That's changed now.
35:54If you're giving him that shot, go ahead and take it.
35:58No pushing.
35:58Man, if we see the angle from the left shoulder of Randall, it is a red mark all the way from the upper shoulder all the way to the back of the neck from the rabbit punches as well.
36:11Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
36:12Can't grip it, baby.
36:13Can't grip it.
36:19Stop at the bow.
36:23Yeah, I'm seeing a lot tonight.
36:25A lot that I didn't know.
36:27Yes, sir.
36:28A lot of good or a lot of bad?
36:31Oh, a lot of bad.
36:33A lot of bad.
36:35A lot of bad.
36:37Yeah.
36:37Walk me through it.
36:38Okay.
36:39I'll walk you through it next round.
36:42You want me to walk you through it right now?
36:44Yeah, they're not talking there.
36:45All the lunging he's doing, you know, he can be set up.
36:51You know, a lot of times his feet got to be planted.
36:53He don't know how to move his feet in combination, throw combination at the same time.
36:57He leaps at you.
36:58You know, so he can be set up.
37:00I mean, there's a lot.
37:01There's a lot.
37:02Drops the opposite hand before he throws.
37:03He does that as well.
37:04I don't want to give him all up like that.
37:06However, I'm starting to see it, man.
37:08Like, guys that's going to give him issues are guys that move.
37:12That are thinkers and can move.
37:14Yes.
37:14And they can set traps on him.
37:16They set him up.
37:17He's still tough now.
37:18Don't get it twisted.
37:20He's still tough.
37:21Still has a high boxing IQ.
37:23However, I can see how he can be beaten.
37:25Yeah, it's a style matchup tonight that he admitted could be tough for him, and it ended up being just that.
37:31As we're ready now for round number 10.
37:34The final round between Rohan Polanco and Quintin Randall.
37:37Can Rohan find the key, or will Quintin Randall continue to frustrate the Dominican fighter here in round number 10?
37:45He hasn't stopped looking for the shots, pressing for the shots.
37:50It just hasn't been effective.
37:52But Randall hasn't done much himself except for that round 7 when he actually caught Polanco coming in with the right.
37:58No, you're absolutely right.
38:00By any means, do I feel that Randall is winning this fight?
38:05I think Polanco has controlled the tempo for the most part to land at the more significant punches throughout the course of this fight.
38:12However, I'm just saying the style matchup is a bit difficult, and that's okay.
38:17That's all right, because that's what you want before you get to the world championship, and then you have everybody gunning for you.
38:24And you've got to deal with every single style that comes your way.
38:28And there will be a boxer, a tremendous boxer.
38:32And there's one in particular that I know right now that is a tremendous boxer.
38:37His name is Hitchens.
38:38And he's right here in New York.
38:41Tremendous boxer.
38:42And he's a lot more disciplined than this young man, than this man right here at Randall.
38:50A lot more disciplined.
38:52Stop.
38:53Get off the deck, baby.
38:53Come on.
38:55Look, you can't forget that Quinton Randall is coming in here off of an upset over to Nelson Boca Chica out in Houston, Texas.
39:02So he came in here with confidence, but it's a different story.
39:06Look, Rohan Polanco, after this performance, will he still be number one on your double-stamp prospect list, or is he going to drop?
39:12No, absolutely.
39:13He's going to be number one.
39:14Because if you look at the competition that Randall has fought, he's fought top-notch competition.
39:21Absolutely.
39:21I'm serious.
39:22He's fought really good competition.
39:25And he's beaten some good guys, guys out there.
39:29And he's not made it easy for any of them inside the ring against him.
39:34So you put that into context and perspective, and you see that it's going to be a solid win for Polanco down the line.
39:43It's going to age well.
39:44Yes.
39:45And another thing, Polanco getting hit with right hands.
39:49Yeah.
39:51Over and over and over again.
39:55Good body work on his side.
39:57I mean, where was this offense from Randall earlier on in this fight?
40:02It couldn't really turn the tide in his favor at some point.
40:05But then it's also the risk of when you let your hands go, you're open for the count.
40:10That's why I didn't know at the same time, you got a bull in front of you, man, that has a lot of innings.
40:14You know, Polanco has definitely slowed down a bit.
40:17And you have Randall that's giving him a kind of awkward rhythm.
40:22You know, he's fighting off rhythm a bit.
40:24Gets back on rhythm, then he fights off rhythm again.
40:27He knows how to change his rhythm and flow.
40:29Might be seeing a little bit of this in the Shushu Carrington-Matthew-Peta fight for him in the featherweight world title.
40:36That's true.
40:37All right.
40:37So Rohan Polanco gets taken the distance by Quinton Randall here inside the theater at MSN.
40:44And, you know, what was the good, though, that you saw from Polanco tonight?
40:50That he went the full distance.
40:51You know, you don't want to be just piling up a whole bunch of knockouts and thinking you're invincible and thinking you ain't got nothing to work on.
40:57I like the fact that he went the distance tonight, you know, and he dealt with the style that he's not so much accustomed to or liked to fight, which is good.
41:06So mentally, he stayed strong throughout the night.
41:08You know, he tried.
41:10He went after the knockout.
41:11But, hey, Randall, you got to give it up to him, man.
41:14He's very savvy inside that ring, you know, clever, you know, and he's a veteran.
41:20So, and he put up, he put his best foot forward.
41:22I mean, I didn't like the beginning.
41:23I wish he would have fought a little bit better in the beginning, you know, because I think the match could have been pretty close.
41:28I still think Polanco won this match just by my eyes.
41:31I didn't score this match, but what I just saw, I think Polanco won this fight.
41:36However, I love the ending, and I just wish that Randall would have had that start and then had that finish, and then he probably would have his hands raised at the end of the night.
41:44But, hey, we don't know.
41:45Let's wait on these judges.
41:47Absolutely wrong.
41:48Polanco seemed to be in control the majority of this fight.
41:52Quentin Randall had his moments where he was tough to find, and he made Rohan Polanco one of the hottest prospects at welterweight.
