00:00Now, for both of our panelists, you heard a lot of compelling reasons for the voters and what they're thinking today.
00:06I want to start with the push to recall the lawmakers.
00:10Guangying, what is the most compelling factor motivating the people who are casting a yes vote tonight?
00:18Right. So I think there are many reasons, as we have heard from the Vox Pop.
00:24I think one of the more compelling reasons is the budget cuts that have happened in the past few months.
00:33And that has really created a lot of controversy.
00:36And including as early as last year, there was a move from the opposition party, the KMT and TPP.
00:45They have tried to expand their power in the legislature.
00:52And that was also very controversial.
00:56But I think at the end of the day, it was really the matter of majority, who controls the legislature.
01:06And I think the administration, TPP, really found it really hard to pass or to push for any kinds of policies that it has really wanted to push.
01:19And that has really created some hurdles.
01:22Now, Donovan, what about the other side?
01:24These are the people that are voting no against the recall.
01:28What's the biggest factor motivating them today?
01:31Well, I think there are several.
01:33And it depends a lot on the individual voter.
01:36One of the cases, for example, that the KMT made is they've accused the recall campaigners of trying to overturn the voters' choices in the January 2024 elections.
01:48And they basically say this is an undemocratic move to overturn the will of the voters.
01:56And I think that was an argument that has resonated with a lot of people.
02:00Others will have other motivations.
02:03There is, for example, a certain percentage of the population that does not like the DPP for personal or partisan reasons.
02:12And then, of course, there will be others that also support the KMT legislative agenda.
02:18And, of course, there are many who just, you know, their families have supported the KMT for generations.
