00:01His greatest skill is just to maintain his composure in the toughest of moments and that's why he's so good.
00:06That's why he's able to make such good decisions under pressure.
00:10I think a great ambassador for cricket.
00:12A lot of the very Indian type of background that I think hugely respect the other world.
00:17One of the things that stands out for MS is his sense of acceptance of players.
00:22He accepts those players for exactly where they are.
00:30His ability to, you know, just be with the youngster and, you know, encourage him no matter what the situation of the game is and no matter what the performance of a player is.
01:00They are now winners of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
01:04Never back against MS Dhoni in CSK.
01:21MS Dhoni in yellow, in blue.
01:24He's so calm, so cool.
01:26How on earth does he keep popping them over the fence?
01:29How on earth does he get us home like this?
01:35Dhoni! Dhoni! Dhoni!
01:37Dhoni is the most destructive batsman.
01:42He changed the way of Indian cricket.
01:45I think Dhoni is the biggest legend Indian crickets ever had.
01:50Dhoni! I love you, Dhoni!
01:52My interesting Dhoni, look at the swing.
01:54Look at those eyes.
01:56Dhoni, he was needed to keep calm and control it all the way.
02:009-1 not out in the end.
02:02His greatest skill is just maintain his composure in the toughest of moments and that's why he's so good.
02:08That's why he's able to make such good decisions under pressure because he's always calm, he's always composed.
02:14And he allows himself to get into that space where he can take that important call.
02:18So, there's so much to learn from him.
02:20When I walked into the team, he was my captain.
02:22He's always going to be my captain.
02:24From my own perspective, I actually, you know, made my World Cup debut under him, which was 2007.
02:33And since then, we've had a very long journey, played a lot of cricket together.
02:37His ability to, you know, just be with the youngster and, you know, encourage him, no matter what the situation of the game is and no matter what the performance of a player is.
02:49You know, he tries to just, you know, make sure that there is enough composure around that player.
02:56The player doesn't feel insecure and that, I think, is a very, very important thing when the player just comes into the team.
03:03Obviously, a fellow wicketkeeper.
03:17He's been an idol of mine growing up.
03:19Mr. Cool.
03:20I love his persona on the field.
03:23Looks very calm and in control when he bats.
03:27He's got the lightning fast hands behind the stumps.
03:29He loves to take the game deep and I think his unique style is a great ambassador for the game.
03:35I'm a huge MS Dhoni fan.
03:39Dhoni can do anything now.
03:40If he really gets going, he can do anything.
03:42No question.
03:44Trout involvement.
03:46Fire up.
03:47Get it on the spot.
03:48No!
03:49He's aborted again.
03:51Much to the disgust of the Australian supporters.
03:55I think a great ambassador for cricket.
03:57An idol to a billion Indian people back home.
03:59But, you know, I think hugely respected around the world.
04:02We were testing the pink ball here.
04:04Bernie said, well, I'll come out and have a ball with it.
04:07And guess what?
04:09He whacked it into the surface.
04:10He's a person who I feel sometimes can control me.
04:20Not like his family for me.
04:21It's like not like for people it might be Baba Andhra Singh Dhoni.
04:25For me it's just Mahi and my sweetest.
04:28Actually I call him my sweetheart.
04:31Oh, he's knocked him over.
04:32Middle stump.
04:33What have you done?
04:34My way of tuning is good.
04:37I think one of the things that stands out for MS is his sense of acceptance of players.
04:55And he picks the players that again he instinctively feels that he needs in the side at this point in time.
05:02But after that, he accepts those players for exactly where they are.
05:06And kind of meets them where they are.
05:09And kind of helps them elevate to where he needs them to be.
05:12I think he also developed a very unique leadership style.
05:16Which is right if you were to see the seven different leadership styles.
05:19Leadership from behind.
05:21So generally you say, leading from the front, leading by example.
05:25This guy was saying, you can understand.
05:27You can do everything you can do.
05:29You can empower people to do.
05:30You can do it.
05:31You can do it.
05:31If things will grow, then I will.
05:33The winners of the Champions Trophy 2013, India.
05:40And now for Mahendra Singh Dhoni, every, every trophy in the world in his cabinet.
05:45The World Test Match No. 1, the ICC World Cup.
05:48The Champions Trophy, the World Team 20.
05:51Add to that a couple of IPLs in Champions Leagues.
05:53And he's done everything that a captain can.
05:55Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made a massive impact on Indian cricket.
06:14In fact, with due respect to all the legends, I don't think anybody has made a greater impact than Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
06:21What you saw with Indian cricket, with Dhoni in charge, was calmness on the big stage.
06:27Where the opposition captain, when he came to the toss, and I've done a few tosses,
06:31we could see that Dhoni was much calmer than the opposition captain on a big stage.
06:36And that was what India needed.
06:38India always had the skills.
06:40They wanted to win, but they didn't know how to cross the finishing line.
06:44Dhoni led by example, and that is his greatest contribution.
06:51I think he was a natural leader.
06:54See, in a men's culture, it takes about one and a half minutes without any words to realise who their natural leader is.
07:03And that's MS.
07:04So, yeah, I think he could command that respect in any change room.
07:08Just naturally, because he's a very likeable individual.
07:11He's a very unselfish individual.
07:13He's a very caring, empathetic individual.
07:16He's a funny individual.
07:17And he's a very calm individual.
07:18I mean, they're great qualities.
07:21And you put that in pressure scenarios in around 1.4, 1.6 billion people wanting you to win a World Cup.
07:28And that's immense.
07:30That's immense sustained mindset that needs to happen.
07:35And he's done it.
07:38MS.
07:39Dhoni.
07:39He writes his own script.
07:42He's that finisher.
07:44And he does it more often than not.
07:46He writes his own script.
07:47He writes his own script.
07:48He writes his own script.
07:49He writes his own script.
07:50He writes his own script.
