00:00With all these dirty naps, it doesn't seem real.
00:07It's almost like a card game. It's like you're just collecting people.
00:10I've just been swiping and nothing. There's just nothing.
00:15In the heart of Britain's most romantic city,
00:19Fred and his team are matching hopeful singletons
00:24in a place where love is always on the menu.
00:28It's going to be everywhere.
00:30Mine will always get stuck on my boob shelf.
00:33These daters...
00:34How old are you?
00:35Old enough for you.
00:37...are searching for the one...
00:39Oh, my God.
00:40...in the real world.
00:41I'm a swarmy.
00:43I grace my knees this morning.
00:46I'm falling for you.
00:46Oh, my God.
00:50For some, stepping into the unknown...
00:53How are you with your technology?
00:54Rubbish. I'm a dinosaur.
00:56Oh, thank goodness.
00:57If I want to get in contact with you, I'll have to WhatsApp here.
01:00Don't get too ahead of yourself.
01:02...can lead to surprising sparks.
01:04I don't know what's going on.
01:07But finding a connection...
01:09What's the dynamic here?
01:10...isn't always easy.
01:12Epic is yours.
01:14My husband is a bar.
01:16Would you like to meet him?
01:18Oh, shit.
01:20Help me.
01:21In the end...
01:22Hey, hey, hey.
01:23It comes down to one...
01:25Hello.
01:26Hello.
01:27...big...
01:27This isn't awkward.
01:29...question.
01:30Do you guys want to see each other again?
01:34This is the First Dates Restaurant.
01:36You know we have hot flushes at this age.
01:4660 is the new 40.
01:49Getting older.
01:51Fact of life, isn't it?
01:52We can't avoid it.
01:53No hiding from it.
01:54There's no running from it.
01:55Are you going to make me cry?
01:57Although I might have a midlife crisis.
01:59Sometimes I sit there and I think, right, that's it, I'm done.
02:02They don't think to themselves, is it?
02:05I'm going to embrace rolling into middle age
02:07by resolutely pretending that I'm 30 still.
02:12Hello.
02:13How are you?
02:13I'm good.
02:14What's happening?
02:15And what would you like to drink?
02:17This is going to show my age.
02:18Do you do strawberry daiquiris?
02:20Yeah.
02:21I was once a bartender years ago.
02:23Where are you now?
02:23Yeah.
02:24Where?
02:25The Hippodrome.
02:26In London?
02:26Yeah.
02:27Yeah, Leicester Square.
02:28I worked in Soho when the Hippodrome was still there.
02:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:31Where'd you work in Soho?
02:31Yeah, a little basement bar called Doghouse.
02:34Oh, Doghouse.
02:34I know Doghouse.
02:35That was when Soho was fun.
02:36Yeah.
02:37You go over to that Chinese restaurant.
02:38Chinese.
02:39There we go.
02:39And they serve me beer and a teapot.
02:44Look at that.
02:45Oh, wow.
02:46Isn't that beautiful?
02:50I'm going to sell myself to my date, yeah?
02:53Performer Kathleen has had enough of singing solo.
02:56Now she's searching for a love duet.
02:59Why don't you pop in and see me?
03:00We can go out and have a little bit of something, something.
03:07I'm 64.
03:08Time is ticking.
03:0910 years, 74.
03:1120 years, 84.
03:13So give me a good 20 years to share my life with someone.
03:17So tell me, what is going on, Kat, with you and dating, though?
03:20Nothing's going on with me and dating.
03:22That's why I'm here.
03:23I'm looking for a partner.
03:25I've been nine years on my own.
03:28We're not built to be alone.
03:29We are built to be in union with each other.
03:32I do love a woman with strong hands.
03:36Good hands.
03:37Good hands.
03:44Hello.
03:45Former handywoman Sue is embracing retirement.
03:50First time in my life that it's my time.
03:52There's a lot more life to live at 60.
03:56I bought myself a little camper van.
03:58My friends call her the love bus, but I'm not sure that's the right name for her yet.
04:04And she's finding the world of dating a challenge.
04:09As a gay lady at 60, dating, yeah, it's bloody hard.
04:13There's a lot of lunatics out there.
04:18I am looking for the one.
04:19I mean, I want the butterflies.
04:20I want the tummy feeling.
04:22OK.
04:23I'm getting a little nervous now, aren't I?
04:25I like a girly girl, but I definitely don't want a princess.
04:29Yeah, because princesses are just a pain in the backside.
04:32Enjoy.
04:33Oh, my God.
04:34Hello.
04:34I thought I'd recognise you for a minute.
04:36Hello.
04:36How are you?
04:37How are you?
04:38I'm good.
04:39Something for you?
04:40Oh, really?
04:41Oh, thank you.
04:42That's all right.
04:43Oh, gosh.
04:45What's your name?
04:46Where'd you come from?
04:46It's Sue.
04:47Sue, I'm staying in Wales.
04:48Your name?
04:49Kathleen, where they call me Kat.
04:50So, what do you do on your spare time, then?
04:52A bit travelling.
04:53I just come back from the Caribbean, funnily enough.
04:56Who'd you go with?
04:57My daughter.
04:57With your daughter?
04:58OK.
04:58You were getting kids?
04:59No.
05:00You know, I've always done music and things, and I was...
05:02And I just never thought it was an appropriate time.
05:06So, have you played with anybody famous?
05:08I've done, like, some top of the pops and things like that.
05:10I did backing vocals and things like that for people.
05:13That sounds amazing.
05:14I'm an entertainer.
05:15I can talk about myself all day, OK?
05:16So...
05:17You see, you know that Merlin turned 50 recently?
05:24I do.
05:25We've got to do something.
05:26Oh.
05:27I mean, I know it's a bit of a belated birthday, but we've got to mark the occasion.
05:30Such a landmark.
05:31OK.
05:32We'll do it at the bar there at the end of the day.
05:33Right, I'm going to get the team involved.
05:34No, we've got to get the whole team.
05:35Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:36Everyone, yeah.
05:37OK, let's go.
05:37All right.
05:38OK, have a good day.
05:46What a beautiful restaurant.
05:48Look at this.
05:51Holiday Park performer Edward is looking for someone he can make sweet music with.
05:56As a performer, I would probably compare myself to Jim Carrey.
06:00I am very, very mad when I get on stage.
06:04Hello, how are you?
06:05A bit nervous, but I'm happy.
06:07Nonetheless, I'm happy to be here.
06:08Very, very happy.
06:09So, too.
06:09What's your name?
06:10Ed.
06:10Nice to meet you.
06:11Hi, Ed Merlin.
06:11Nice to meet you, too.
06:12Nice to meet you, man.
06:13Beer Moretti, please.
06:14My favourite.
06:17There you go.
06:17Thank you very much.
06:19Very nice.
06:20So, yes, this should settle your nerves.
06:22Yes, I hope so.
06:23As a general dater, I do struggle.
06:26Get so nervous that I ramble on for hours and then barely give them room to speak.
06:32The last thing that I want is for this dater to just be all one-sided and for her to have
06:37absolutely no input whatsoever.
06:40What's your time?
06:41I want somebody that I can have fun with, somebody who may not have all of the same interests as
06:47me, but might be open to learning about my interests and trying them out with me and
06:52sing will I love, and then I can do the same for her.
06:54Brilliant.
06:55Brilliant.
06:55Ed, have a brilliant date.
06:56Thank you very much.
06:57Ow, just hit my finger on the bar.
07:00Oh, boy.
07:05Here we go.
07:06This is Rosie.
07:12She's looking for someone she can harmonise with.
07:16I used to play in the jazz band when I was at school.
07:20It was a way to meet boys.
07:21I love singing, I sing all the time.
07:33My favourite place to sing is in a pub toilet, and when I've had a few drinks, I can hit my
07:38Disney princess notes.
07:39Pretty woman walking down the street.
07:43Hello.
07:43How are you, Rosie?
07:43Good, thank you.
07:44I love your dress.
07:46Are you excited?
07:53Yeah, I'm nervous.
07:54Are you?
07:54Yeah.
07:55You're not showing it at all.
07:56Tell me, what has dating been like for you?
07:59I've been on two dates with one person.
08:01Right.
08:01I've been speed dating, which was comical, but nothing came of it.
08:06Yeah.
08:06And that's it.
08:07I've never been in love.
08:08I've never even held hands with a boy.
08:10Really?
08:10Have you kissed a boy before?
08:12No.
08:12Never?
08:13Never, ever.
08:13Okay.
08:15Where do you think you've been going wrong?
08:17I don't think I've been going wrong, I think they have.
08:19I think they can't see me for, like, who I am.
08:23So, what are you looking for in a man?
08:25Somebody fun, maybe someone musical, because I'm quite musical.
08:28Right.
08:29I've got just the entertainer for you.
08:31Okay.
08:32Do you want to meet him?
08:32Yeah.
08:33All right, let's go.
08:34Sure.
08:34I'll let you go and make your way.
08:36Have fun.
08:39Hello.
08:39Hi.
08:41Nice to meet you.
08:42Ed.
08:42Nice, I'm Rosie.
08:43Hi.
08:44What would you, uh, you want a drink passage?
08:46Can I have a fruity cocktail of some sort?
08:48A fruity cocktail?
08:49Yes, please.
08:49Ah, best kind of cocktails.
08:51Why not?
08:52I'm an entertainer.
08:54So, like, what's that, kind of, like, parties?
08:56No, um, holiday parks, actually.
08:58Oh, cool, okay.
08:58So, you're a singer?
08:59Yes, I'm a singer, yeah.
09:01Okay, me too.
09:01Really?
09:02Yeah.
09:03What sort of stuff do you sing?
09:04I like musical theatre.
09:05I am a theatre brat myself.
09:07Are you?
09:08Yeah, massively.
09:09Yay!
09:09What's your favourite musical theatre show?
09:12I love Hairspray.
09:14Of course.
09:14Hairspray's brilliant.
09:15Classic.
09:15And I love Joseph as well.
09:17So, in year six, I played Joseph.
09:19Did you?
09:20Yeah.
09:20Do you remember all the colours?
09:21Oh, God, you're trying to get me to list them off.
09:23Okay.
09:23Red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and
09:30olive and violet and fawn and violet and gold and chocolate and lemon.
09:34Oh, God, this is so bad.
09:35Green and crimson and silver and rose and asher and lemon and rosy and green and purple and
09:39white and pink and orange and blue.
09:41Oh, God.
09:42I lose it midway through every single time.
09:45That is a good memory.
09:46I'm very impressed.
09:48Love Joseph.
09:48Do you think people get set in their ways as they get older?
09:53I think you can set in your ways.
09:55But I think the thing with the people coming here are people who don't want to be set in
09:59their ways.
09:59As we get older, I think we need to continue to be challenged.
10:02Agreed.
10:03Are we ready?
10:04Yes, thank you.
10:04Oh, lovely.
10:07And the steak.
10:08A little surprise.
10:09Some peppercorn sauce for you.
10:10Bon appétit.
10:12So, you raised your children in Wales?
10:14No, I raised my children in Ashford in Middlesex.
10:17Yeah.
10:19I wasn't very well five years ago.
10:21Yeah.
10:22I had cancer.
10:23Are you clear?
10:24Yeah, yeah.
10:25Clear now, yeah.
10:25Yes!
10:26I think it was a life-changing moment for me after chemo and everything else.
10:30And I thought, actually, I don't want my old life anymore.
10:34I want to be who I am.
10:35I was married for 32 years.
10:39I think I knew at school that I was gay.
10:43But because of who my father was, being military, I thought, well, do the right thing.
10:51Husband, kids.
10:52I think just knowing that you're not immortal, if you like, yeah, that you will die one day.
11:01And I thought, no, I can't die without being me.
11:03Mm-hmm.
11:04I knew that I can't live the double life anymore.
11:08You know, when you're going through something that's so life-changing, you either tap out
11:15or you do the really hard thing and get divorced and start your new life and all that.
11:23And thankfully, I chose the latter.
11:26And I sat him and my kids down at the same time and I said, look, look, we're going to have a discussion here.
11:32So my daughter thought that the cancer had come back, but, and I said, no, you know, no, I'm good.
11:38Yeah.
11:38I said, but I'm gay.
11:39And she went, no, she's sure, like, I always knew.
11:44So I divorced my husband.
11:47And he was fine.
11:48We're still friends now.
11:49You know, it was all, yeah, it was fine.
11:51But I take it you've been out a very long time.
11:54Yeah, I've probably been out since I was five, really.
12:05I have an amuse-bouche here.
12:08That looks really nice.
12:10Let's have a try.
12:11Great.
12:11I think it looks scary.
12:13Want to give us a try?
12:14I'm scared.
12:15I grew up a fussy eater.
12:21Yeah, it's actually pretty good.
12:27Oops.
12:27Spoon food everywhere.
12:29Yeah.
12:30I'm terrible for that.
12:31Mine will always get stuck on my boob shelf.
12:33So, it's Merlin's 50th birthday.
12:46Yeah.
12:47And I just want you to write in the card.
12:49Just something personal.
12:50And then we'll just make a big fuss of it.
12:52Do you know what he's like?
12:53He's like, no, no.
12:54And we're like, yeah, yeah.
12:58So what are you looking for?
12:59Are you looking for a romance?
13:01And, yeah, I would like long-term romance, yeah, 100%.
13:05Yeah, yeah.
13:05I'd like to travel a little bit with somebody.
13:08Obviously, because when you're traveling on your own,
13:10you can't have that excitement.
13:13Like, you know, if you see a waterfall, you go,
13:15ooh, it's a waterfall.
13:15Waterfall, I know, I know, I know.
13:18Whereas when you're with somebody, you can enjoy it together.
13:22Well, my last relationship was 13 years.
13:25There wasn't love at first sight.
13:27No.
13:27But it was like two weeks I had known her.
13:29And then something just clicked, and it hit me.
13:33And then we moved in together,
13:36so we had known each other less than a month.
13:38Oh, wow.
13:39Yeah, that's quick.
13:40Yeah, they said lesbians can be like that, though.
13:4348 hours, I reckon.
13:4448 hours.
13:47Something hit me, and I just fell for her.
13:50It took me about two weeks.
13:52And I fell for her.
13:53And then she goes, I didn't know you felt like that about me.
13:56And then she moved in, so we lived together for 13 years.
14:00I met my partner, my ex-partner, in like 2001.
14:03And I guess by 2015 or so, we split up.
14:07I still don't know what happened, to be honest,
14:09because it kind of came out of nowhere.
14:11Oh, wow.
14:11In a weird way.
14:12We were hanging out, and she goes, I slept with someone,
14:15and I want to end it.
14:17And that broke my heart, yeah.
14:22I lost the foundation.
14:23I had lost a part in me.
14:27Because you love them doesn't mean they're going to love you,
14:30isn't it?
14:30No, exactly.
14:31Yeah.
14:32And, you know, and I think that's the hardest bit.
14:35Why am I looking for a partner now?
14:38Because I've always wanted one.
14:40Also, I'm in a good space right now.
14:43My heart is healed.
14:45I want to fall in love.
14:47I really want to fall in love.
14:48Yeah, me too.
14:49Maybe love's right in front of you.
14:51You don't know it.
14:52At this ripe old age, I trust.
14:56I'm strong enough to hold myself,
14:59and I'm also weak enough to give myself as well.
15:04Do you like cooking?
15:05I don't.
15:05Are you good?
15:07I'm okay.
15:08Yeah?
15:08Yeah, I'm okay with, like, a shepherd's pie.
15:11It's just mashed potato and ground beef, isn't it?
15:13Yeah, well, that's the cottage pie.
15:16That's why it's called a shepherd's pie,
15:18because it's got lamb mince.
15:19For 35 years, I've never...
15:20Really?
15:21That's why it's called a shepherd's pie.
15:24It's got lamb mince in it.
15:25What should I say?
15:26I never know what to say.
15:27Um, happy birthday, Ernie.
15:31You're a absolute superstar,
15:34and if I ever make a cocktail that matches up to your standard,
15:38I have completed life.
15:3935-year-old Natasha is a globe-trotting, high-flying chief stewardess on a superyacht,
15:49but wild nights at sea have left her love life high and dry.
15:54It's another world working for rich billionaires.
15:59Stereotypically, the men that work on boats are also a bit wild.
16:03Ooh-la-la.
16:04Hello.
16:05You're looking amazing.
16:08I love your hair.
16:09Where do you live?
16:10Where do you come from?
16:10Erm, I live in Los Angeles.
16:12Do you?
16:13Yeah.
16:13And you're coming here in Bath for a first date with a man who might live where?
16:19I mean, are you fussed where they live?
16:20I could settle down anywhere in the world and just be happy as long as I'm tripped like a princess.
16:27I enjoy being surrounded by luxury and the finer things in life.
16:31I'm not really a materialistic person as such, although I did just buy a Rolex.
16:38So you've been on many blind dates?
16:40Never, ever been on a blind date.
16:42Right.
16:43I'm very excited.
16:44Great.
16:45All right, let's go to the bar.
16:46You're the first to arrive.
16:47Oh, my gosh, amazing.
16:48Yes.
16:49Welcome.
16:51What would you like?
16:52Erm, espresso martini for you.
16:54Of course, ma'am.
16:55Got to start the day with a big kick.
16:57Erm.
16:58So where have you come from?
16:59Erm, I flew in from Bali, actually.
17:02Oh, right.
17:03OK, yeah, just round the corner.
17:04Oh, yeah.
17:05So we need to find you someone suitably international today then.
17:08Someone that likes to travel, yeah.
17:09What do you do?
17:10I actually work at sea.
17:11I work on super yachts, yeah.
17:13Oh, super yachts?
17:14I've done it for a long time.
17:15Nice.
17:16So you don't get seasick then?
17:17Yeah, I do.
17:18Do you?
17:19This is the worst career ever.
17:20Listen, enjoy your drink.
17:22Hopefully the date will arrive soon, not keep me hanging.
17:26Sailing into the restaurant is Alex, a captain who's all hands on deck.
17:32The favourite part of my job is parking it.
17:35When it's windy and there's a little space and you park it and you're absolutely nailed it,
17:39you're like, bosh.
17:40And then the captain next door gives you a little nod, you're like, yeah, winning.
17:43How are you?
17:44I'm very good, thank you.
17:45Are you cold?
17:46Yes.
17:47Just flown in from Italy, so it's a bit warm.
17:48Oh, wow.
17:49What were you doing there?
17:50I work on a yacht.
17:51What's your role on the yacht?
17:52Try not to crash it.
17:54So I was 26 when I got my first captaincy position in Australia.
17:59A boat called Spank Me.
18:02Don't you meet women who are attracted by what you do?
18:05Well, it's not difficult meeting women, it's finding one that's worth keeping.
18:08Right.
18:09Should I take your coat?
18:10Yes, please.
18:11Thank you so much.
18:12So a lot of these girls who are attracted, very money orientated.
18:14Gold diggers looking for rich Russian guys on the back of yachts.
18:16Which is a good place to find them, I suppose.
18:18But they're barking up the wrong tree with me.
18:20So just to let you know, your date has arrived.
18:22Oh.
18:23She's at the bar.
18:24Okay.
18:25She says she's a princess.
18:26Okay.
18:27There you are.
18:28Okay, maybe I'll be her prince.
18:29Yes.
18:30Hello.
18:31Hello.
18:32How are you?
18:33Hi, I'm Sasha.
18:34How are you Alex?
18:35You good?
18:36Good, yes.
18:37And you?
18:38Yeah, good man.
18:39You're very glamorous.
18:41You just told me you're a princess.
18:42Oh, really did you not?
18:43Yeah.
18:44Because I said I wanted to meet Prince Charming.
18:45Oh, maybe I might be that Prince Charming.
18:46You never know.
18:47We'll see.
18:48What do you do for work?
18:49Um, I have a bit of a different job.
18:51I work on yachts for a living.
18:52Ah, okay, me too.
18:53Oh, wow.
18:54Are you captain?
18:55I am.
18:56Yeah.
18:57Yeah.
18:58In the chief stew.
18:59You can't have these power couples working together.
19:01No, no, look at us.
19:02Look at us.
19:03We'll take over the world.
19:10Which shows have you done in Am Gun so far?
19:12I've done Annie Get Your Gun, which is a fun one.
19:15Oh, yeah.
19:16Anything you can do, I can do better.
19:18I can do anything better than you.
19:20No, you can.
19:21Yes, I can.
19:22No, you can.
19:23Yes, I can.
19:24No, you can.
19:25Yes, I can.
19:26Yes, I can.
19:27That's such a good show.
19:28Brilliant.
19:29You seem very confident.
19:30Well, I'm glad I come across that way, because trust me, there's a lot of stuff that goes
19:35on behind the scenes that people don't really get to see.
19:38Yeah.
19:39Like, I'm autistic.
19:40I am what's known as a high-functioning autistic.
19:45I struggle to know the right words to say to people in certain scenarios.
19:52Before actually going out there and dating people, in the beginning, it was just like
19:57a complete alien subject to me.
20:00By my own admission, I did try too hard.
20:03It did unfortunately lead to me being ghosted after three first dates, which does take a
20:08toll after a while.
20:10Honestly, it hurt a little bit.
20:13I'm not your quote-unquote stereotypical guy.
20:16With my autism comes a lot of skills that not a lot of people would necessarily have.
20:22Yeah.
20:23As a lot of autistic people do, we mask ourselves.
20:26We mask parts of ourselves that we worry that people won't like, because we feel like
20:30we have to fit in, and we don't realise that standing out is the best option for us.
20:36I've been able to recognise most British bird songs from the age of 12.
20:40Really?
20:41I can go out to a nature reserve now, and I'll hear a bird song, and I'll like,
20:45I know what that is.
20:46Yeah.
20:49Do you want a cake?
20:50OK, thank you.
20:51You can feed it to each other, you can cuddle up together and enjoy it, OK?
20:54OK.
20:55Thank you so much.
20:56Enjoy.
20:57Thank you, thank you.
20:58So do you like camping?
20:59No.
21:01What do you mean, no?
21:03What about in a motorhome?
21:05I'm talking about going out in a motorhome.
21:07I thought you'd be like a sleeping bag.
21:09And the stars, and there's like, there's a pebble sticking in there.
21:12Not that one.
21:13No, no.
21:14She's so open.
21:17I recognise that energy, that energy of warmth and kindness.
21:21This is the energy I come from, you know.
21:23It's like I've known you before.
21:24Back when you walked in, it's like, I feel like I've seen you before.
21:27Really?
21:28As soon as I met her, it was like, I'd known her forever.
21:32She had this little aura about herself that just made me relax and just, just be.
21:37I was looking at your bris, looks a bit like mine, that one.
21:40Oh yeah, a little bit, yeah.
21:42I don't know if she feels romantically towards me, I have no idea.
21:46I mean, I'm not good with stuff like that anyway.
21:48You know, I mean, you could throw a brick at me, I still wouldn't know if you fancied me.
21:51If we do it, 40 quid each.
21:5440 quid?
21:55Yeah, perfect.
21:56You use your phone as well?
21:57Yeah.
21:58I use my phone for everything.
22:00Hello.
22:01Hi.
22:02You all right?
22:03How's it going?
22:05Yeah, good, yeah?
22:06Yeah.
22:07Very well, thank you.
22:10It's all good.
22:11Yeah.
22:12It's like that.
22:14So would you like to see each other again?
22:16Yeah.
22:17Yeah, I would too.
22:18Oh yeah.
22:19We're gonna go and have some...
22:23Couple drinks?
22:24Yeah.
22:25Yeah.
22:26Well tonight, definitely some drinks.
22:27Yeah.
22:28And...
22:29Have a lovely evening.
22:30Bye bye.
22:31Thank you so much, bye bye.
22:32You've got good energy.
22:34Yeah.
22:35And I haven't...
22:36I haven't come across that a lot before.
22:39Did you get enough to eat?
22:40Yeah, yeah.
22:42Got big hands?
22:45Oh yeah, I have.
22:46There you do.
22:47Oops.
22:48Oopsie.
22:49Strike one.
22:51No, that's something like that.
22:52Oh, you like?
22:53Yeah.
22:54Tick.
22:55Tick.
22:56You're gonna have another beer or what?
22:57Yeah, I'm gonna have another beer.
23:01That worries.
23:06How hungry are you?
23:07I'm actually a top snacker, so for me to eat a big meal it's not really a nice thing.
23:13You're a top snacker.
23:14I'm called like cheap snacker at work.
23:15Is that the only thing?
23:16I have a snack cupboard.
23:17So do I.
23:18Yeah.
23:19I can't believe I'm a date with a yachty, that's so funny.
23:21I'm from Poole, so it's a very saily town.
23:23Saily?
23:24Is that a word?
23:25It is now.
23:27I got my first boat when I was seven.
23:29It's in my blood.
23:30I love my job.
23:31I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else.
23:32And I'll be doing it as long as I can.
23:35Hello, hello, hello.
23:36To be honest, you probably know her.
23:38Yeah, I will.
23:39Have you finished this, yeah?
23:41I'll just have the last sip, because it's really delicious.
23:43Eat the beans as well, eat the beans.
23:44That's what he said.
23:46Oh, my God.
23:47Is that really infinity?
23:49Signal analysis?
23:50It's a bad story.
23:52I went to a festival and then thought that was a good idea.
23:54Look, infinity.
23:55Oh, matching.
23:56It's just a lot bigger and in your face.
23:58That's also what he said, but anyway.
24:04See you all?
24:05Know the plant oh my, in a place.
24:06Olaaaah!
24:23Oh, my God.
24:26Oh, my God.
24:31I
24:37Love fishing. It's really boring, but that's what I was gonna say about you enjoy doing fishing. Yeah, I know it's a really boring hobby
24:44I'm a little bit of a fishing geek. I'm that sad that my wallpaper's me and a fish. Oh
24:48God you're one of these tinder people who are holding a fish now. I love the solitude of it
24:54I love sitting inside a lake don't have to talk to it on. I
24:57I love it. I've never been nervous to come on a date
25:00It's the first time I've ever been nervous. Did you at least he's still on the apps and stuff?
25:04I've given up with dating apps. It was the worst. I met some really
25:11Awful people actually on the day
25:18Okay, my dear I
25:21Need you to go and buy some balloons
25:23Okay, like five zero balloons big helium massive over the top and then somehow
25:31Miraculously, I need you to sneak them past the bar. No, so the Merlin doesn't see yes, okay?
25:37You got it. All right
25:41For you, there you go. Thank you. Let's give this a go then shall we let's try can I confess something right now?
25:47I've never had jelly in my entire life
25:49Never had it. I think it's just the texture that I'm not a fan of but yeah, but the texture is fun
25:55Look at it wiggle. Oh
26:00My god, that's actually really good. Very nice. I feel a bit awkward asking this in the first date
26:05But what's your what's your dating history been like previously? Has it been good? Has it been bad? Has it been okay?
26:10Um, I haven't had any romantic ever. I'd never even held hands with a with a boy romantically
26:16Serious? Hmm. I've been on a date with one person and that was
26:22Nice, but there wasn't like a spark. I do sometimes feel a little bit left out
26:29My friends are experiencing things that sometimes I think I'm never going to get like it's just not gonna happen
26:35And the only fictional character or celebrity I've ever ever been compared to is Bridget Jones
26:41By way too many people. It's kind of rude now
26:45Really want a boyfriend everybody I know seems to have someone else or they have experience of it
26:50There's conversations going on about like, you know people not knowing what to do with their exes. I'm like imagine having an ex
26:57Recently, I was like I'm just gonna give up. I'm just gonna give up. I don't really care anymore. It's fine
27:02It's like I still want it
27:04I'd love to find someone to settle down with eventually
27:07I'd live in a little house by the sea and I would like to get married. Wedding looks like a lot of fun
27:15I think because I'm nervous
27:18I've gone quite quiet. Normally, I'm the biggest talker
27:23Would you say in the right circumstances that you could like talk for ages on end?
27:29Normally, because that was my main concern tonight was that I was worried that I'd be like cutting you off
27:33for different points and that's
27:35I don't think you haven't cut me off
27:37I don't think you can do that
27:39Eww
27:40Eww!
27:54This is Kerry, 56 and thirsty for drills.
28:01She's ready to fill the burn in all the right places.
28:05Mummy wants a mate, but one that I can roll around the bedroom with.
28:14Oh, sex is like a drug. It's lovely. If it's done right, anyway.
28:18Women of my age that say, oh, I'd rather have a cup of tea,
28:21they're having the wrong kind of sex.
28:24Or they've got tea bags that I don't know about.
28:27I've got two sons. They've got their own lives.
28:31It's my time now, isn't it? Mummy wants to let her hair down.
28:36Hi, Fred. Nice to meet you.
28:38You like mine? I love your look.
28:39Ooh, thank you. All in black like that, little blonde hair.
28:42I'm trying to keep up with the youngsters, Fred.
28:44How's dating been for you?
28:45Let's just say I've married twice, divorced twice.
28:48But I'm still up for it.
28:49All right, come with me. Thank you.
28:51Oh, she's done the land up.
28:53That is glamorous. She's oozing carpet.
28:56She looks like she takes no prisoners.
28:57Can I get you a drink?
28:58Do you know what, Merlin? I would love a lovely long gin and tonic.
29:02Yeah.
29:03A little hint of lime.
29:04A little hint of lime.
29:05I go heavy on the ice.
29:06And heavy on the ice, good.
29:07Yeah, lovely.
29:08As it should be.
29:09Tell me, what are you looking for today, then?
29:10What do you want?
29:11Who's your celebrity crush?
29:12Oh, my gosh.
29:13King Charles.
29:14Seriously?
29:15Yeah, I absolutely love him.
29:16Yeah.
29:17Yeah.
29:20The dulcet tones of our king.
29:23I want to be treated how Charles would treat Camilla.
29:27He would never in a million years expect Camilla to get a rounding at the bar, would he?
29:33I want to be high maintenance.
29:34High maintenance.
29:35Oh, high maintenance.
29:36I've never been a high maintenance sort of guy.
29:37I want to look after myself.
29:38I'd love a nice alpha male.
29:40Someone who's going to look after me.
29:42Never had one.
29:45Did they exist?
29:50Hello?
29:51Former accounts manager Dan has mastered sealing the deal.
29:56Now he's hoping to negotiate a loving relationship.
29:59I was always told I had a tinkle in my eye.
30:03Well, my mum used to say that anyway, but...
30:06A very good friend described me as a silver fox.
30:10The sexual attraction side is an important part of the relationship.
30:15I wouldn't say I have a particular type.
30:17But when I was thinking about the sort of celebrity likes, they all tend to be blondes.
30:23Oh, Fred, I'm scared.
30:24Are you scared?
30:25Yeah, really scared.
30:26A lot of my friends have said, don't understand why I'm single, but I just haven't found the perfect match.
30:31Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, get hellos, and then that's it.
30:38Good afternoon.
30:39Hi Dan, how are you?
30:40I'm very good to pray to yourself.
30:41Nice to meet you.
30:42Likewise.
30:43The date has arrived.
30:44Lovely.
30:45Can you see her?
30:46I can now.
30:47Oh, I can see her head.
30:48Let's go and find out.
30:49Let you go.
30:51Cheers.
30:52Hello.
30:53Hello.
30:54Hello.
30:55How are you?
30:56I'm good, thank you.
30:57Good.
30:58What's your name?
30:59Nice to meet you.
31:00Dan.
31:01Dan.
31:02Kerry.
31:03Kerry.
31:04Right, okay.
31:05Bad luck.
31:06You got me.
31:07It's okay.
31:08How are you doing?
31:09Yeah, good.
31:10Are you nervous?
31:11Yeah, really nervous.
31:12I was fine until about five minutes ago, and then a little bit nervous.
31:13Aw.
31:14How old are you?
31:1562.
31:16Oh, yeah.
31:17How old do you think I am?
31:1834.
31:19Yeah, that's good.
31:20You've always got to go low, haven't you?
31:22Yeah, yeah, yeah.
31:23What do I need to know about Dan?
31:25Blimey.
31:26Where do I start?
31:28I've lived on my own for 17 years.
31:32Yes.
31:33Yeah.
31:34Really?
31:35You've got girlfriends in between.
31:37The occasional girlfriend, but nothing long-term.
31:40Are you ready to go for lunch?
31:44Always ready for lunch.
31:46I just have to drop the bill for you.
31:52Okay, thank you.
31:53Thank you very much.
31:55Let's have a look at this, don't you?
31:56You want to split the bill?
31:57I can pay if you want.
31:59I'd like to split.
32:01Yeah.
32:02Nice.
32:05How was that?
32:06Amazing.
32:07It's brilliant.
32:08Honestly, this is probably the best first date I've ever had.
32:11I just want to say now, I think you're very, very nice.
32:14Yeah.
32:15I really like you and you're very, very beautiful.
32:19As soon as I saw her walk through that door in that red dress, my jaw dropped.
32:23I was just like, wow, she's beautiful.
32:25I'm not religious, but I was kind of praying to God a couple of times saying, God, if you
32:29are there, please don't make her think that I'm a douchebag.
32:32This has been such a nice night and thank you so much for just taking the time to listen
32:39to me and to what I have to say because I feel like that's such a hard thing for me to
32:45get out of people these days.
32:46Yeah.
32:47So thank you.
32:49Would you like to see each other again?
32:52Um, I think I had a lovely evening and I think that we bounced off each other really well.
33:01Um, I think it felt more friendly than romantic.
33:05Um, and I just felt there wasn't really a spark.
33:09That's understandable.
33:10Yeah.
33:11Yeah.
33:12Okay.
33:13Yeah.
33:14Okay.
33:15I was guessing, are you taking that as a no then?
33:16He's saying no from that one.
33:17Yeah.
33:18That's fine.
33:19That's fair.
33:20May I?
33:21Yeah.
33:22Oh, that's fine.
33:23Awkward.
33:24I was wondering, maybe it might be worth giving it a go, seeing if another day, but if
33:28you weren't fit, then that's fine.
33:32I've not really been in a position where, like, a man has told me that they find me attractive,
33:37that they think, like, I'm really lovely to talk to.
33:39Like, that was just, like, really nice to hear.
33:41Honestly, you're so naturally beautiful.
33:44Well, that was very enjoyable.
33:46Thank you very much.
33:47No worries.
33:48And, uh, see you later.
33:49Have a good one by the hotel.
33:50Bye.
33:51See ya.
33:56Do you know what?
33:57I didn't know what to expect today.
33:59Well, you look lovely, by the way.
34:01You too.
34:02I had an idea that it might be a yachty.
34:04I'm getting old now.
34:05I'm old for a yachting.
34:0735.
34:081.42.
34:09I want to leave yachting.
34:11I've been single now for roughly about half a year.
34:15My fiancé and I decided mutually not to carry on with our relationship,
34:20because he decided he doesn't want children anymore.
34:24I'm at that age now where, if I get any older, I'm not going to be able to have a family.
34:29Yeah, I've been on dating apps and it's just really vain, because you're scrolling based upon looks.
34:35Apparently the dad bods in nowadays.
34:37Is it?
34:38Apparently.
34:39Are you a dad?
34:40No.
34:41Oh, OK.
34:42It's important to me to find somebody that wants to have a family.
34:47I moved off my boat yesterday.
34:48I'm on vacation at the moment.
34:49Ah, OK.
34:50Yeah, I haven't seen my mum for a while.
34:53Mmm.
34:54Yeah.
34:55Mmm.
34:56Yeah.
34:57I don't know how long it is, to be honest.
34:59How long do you go before you go home?
35:01You're going to...
35:02Like half a year?
35:03I promise you don't judge me.
35:04I haven't seen my mum for about nine years.
35:06Really?
35:07It's not that I don't care.
35:08I just don't think.
35:09My family, for me, that's the most important thing.
35:13Last year was probably the toughest year of my entire life.
35:17A year and a half ago, I got a call.
35:21My dad had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
35:26He only had one month to live.
35:29Erm...
35:31But each day that I had with him was so precious.
35:36And I'm glad that I made it back to be with him through that time.
35:42Now I'm hopefully trying to get my spark back and, yeah, make my dad proud
35:48and get married to the right person, I guess.
35:51What's your, erm, outtake on long-distance relationships?
35:56I work with the right person, I've done it.
35:59Mm-hmm.
36:00I'm actually quite a believer in absence, make the heart go fonder.
36:03Like, genuinely, I'm not just saying that.
36:04No, no, I do.
36:05It's nice of a little sight when you see someone.
36:06I'm not just saying that.
36:07Yeah.
36:08Do you not agree, or...?
36:09I've done long-distance relationships with my ex.
36:12And, erm, I honestly think maybe that's why he changed his mind on things.
36:18Cos I think people struggle a little bit with that.
36:21Yeah.
36:22Especially if they're not from yachting, they don't understand.
36:24Yeah, yeah.
36:25I just want to be, like, settled on land and, erm, having a family.
36:29I don't want to be in a long-distance relationship.
36:33Do you know what?
36:34I think I'm going to go for a small plate, because do you want to know a secret?
36:42Tell me a secret.
36:43Right.
36:44I've lost a little bit of weight, well, quite a lot of weight.
36:46How much have you lost?
36:47Nearly five stone.
36:48Five stone?
36:49Yeah.
36:50Wow.
36:51But, do you know what?
36:52I quite liked the bouncy me.
36:54But you would have still...
36:55She was still hot, the five stone heavy one.
36:57Yeah, sure, she was all right.
37:00Hello.
37:01Hello.
37:02Can I compliment you on the glamour of your look?
37:07You haven't done.
37:08Yeah, you haven't.
37:09You haven't told me a lot.
37:10I was just waiting for that.
37:11I was waiting for that.
37:12I'm just trying to give you some pointers.
37:13It comes to something when they wait to compliment me before you do.
37:16He can't have everything.
37:17He got up his game of it.
37:18Oh, it's me and you, you know?
37:20Well, yeah.
37:21I'll give you some pointers.
37:23OK.
37:32Oh, excuse me.
37:33Natasha.
37:34How's it going?
37:35You OK?
37:36Good, yeah.
37:37How's your date?
37:38Good.
37:39Yeah?
37:40I've had a really good date and stuff.
37:41Awesome, yeah.
37:42It seems like you're hitting it off, I guess.
37:43It's been fun.
37:44Nice service.
37:46Service with a smile.
37:47Thanks, Kyle.
37:48Well, I'll come back in a bit.
37:49It's no dessert, nothing else.
37:50Is everything right?
37:51No, I'm fine.
37:52There you go.
37:53Nice and easy.
37:54I guess it's been nice service. Thank you. Well, I'll come back in a bit
38:04It's no dessert nothing else knows
38:18So what are you looking for Dan? I'm not looking for
38:21You grab your ideal woman don't want someone to
38:28Overpowering
38:31Confident but not overconfident
38:36Mentally stable
38:41Don't ask a lot of questions you do don't you yeah, do you know why?
38:45No, I used to be a detective
38:47Did you? Yeah, so I have to be careful that I don't like end up like interviewing you under caution or anything like that
38:54Well, I need to know this information, don't I?
38:56So how long have you been built for then? 20 years
39:00It's like a big part of my life, you know
39:02The police was my family and
39:04Everybody had my back and felt so brave and then something happened where you know I became very vulnerable
39:11Yeah, I was injured on duty and I don't want to talk about it, but
39:17Well, buy something
39:18Yeah
39:19I don't talk about it. I'll get upset and cry
39:21We were in Southend Town Centre and a call came in that somebody who was wanted was in a car park and
39:31We saw the person and I showed my warrant card and said, you know what?
39:36Hold on a minute mate, I need to speak to you with police and just very very quickly
39:41I ended up on the bullet
39:43He was doing 40 miles an hour and he went left and I fell off right
39:48That event ended my career, never went back to work
39:52And it wasn't the ending I wanted, you know, I didn't want it to end that way
39:55No, of course not
39:57I have spent the last 20 years grieving for the loss of the only life I knew really
40:03But I've still got another whole section of my life ahead
40:07And it's what's bringing me here today
40:09It's that determination to not let
40:13Something awful
40:18Mark out the rest of your life
40:25Right, I am going to go to the loo
40:26Okay
40:27You all right then when you're on?
40:28Yeah, I can cope
40:32How's it going?
40:33Yeah, okay, thank you
40:34Yeah?
40:35Enjoying yourself?
40:36Yeah, she's nice enough
40:37Okay
40:38I think I'm doing his head in to be perfectly honest
40:42I've put my best flirt on and I just feel like I'm hitting a brick wall
40:45No, I just get the impression I'm way, way too much for him
40:49No, I've had enough now
40:50I'm ready to jump out the window actually
40:52No, no, no, no
40:55I don't know, but I won't be having a dessert
40:57That's for a fact
40:59Did you get me something?
41:00I did
41:01Did you really?
41:02It's a look charm
41:03So in Bali
41:04I didn't get you anything
41:05They have
41:06I know, I feel bad
41:07If you want to cleanse him in your little bath of tequila you can drink out of this
41:11I'm kidding, I'm kidding
41:13I can't not do that now
41:14The initial thing that went through my mind when I found out he was a captain
41:18Captain
41:18I was like, okay, good
41:20He understands me as a person
41:22Salty sea dog
41:23Nice to see you again
41:28Nice to see you again
41:28Thank you, yeah, I haven't seen you for ages
41:29There you go
41:33Would you like to see each other again?
41:38Who's going to go first?
41:40Who's going to go first?
41:41Shall I go first or do you want to go first?
41:43Would you like to see me again?
41:45Yeah, but a non-romantic thing I think because of the distance
41:48Yeah
41:49I think we're both on the same page
41:50That's exactly what I was going to say
41:51No, that's cool
41:52At least you're on the same page with that one
41:53That's amazing
41:54No, you're cool, had a great dinner
41:55Like what?
41:56Yeah, yeah
41:57You're such a gentleman
41:58I had a really fun time
41:59Well, that's the main thing, yeah, yeah
42:00Yeah
42:01I'd like to say you're a lady, but are you?
42:02And I liked... no
42:03If I'm honest
42:07I was more attracted to the waiter
42:09Kyle was really hot
42:11I was hoping I was going to get Kyle's number
42:16Have you got it?
42:17As I get older
42:20Being here at the first date of the restaurant
42:21Definitely gives me hope
42:22Because I'm watching older dance
42:25Are you romantic?
42:29I have my moments
42:30At a younger age
42:31Maturity is sexy, right?
42:32Maturity is sexy, right?
42:33Men age beautifully
42:35Not all men
42:37Not all men
42:47Hello
42:48Hello
42:49Where are you from?
42:50Originally New York City
42:51I love it
42:52I was there in November
42:53Oh, it's a fantastic place, isn't it?
42:54I love it
42:55Have you been to New York?
42:56No, it's for the Americans, isn't it?
42:59You're missing out on life
43:02Can I interest you in the dessert menu
43:04Or would you like the bill?
43:05Um...
43:06Bill?
43:07I'm going to insist that we go after the meal
43:16Why?
43:17Because...
43:18It won't help you getting in
43:19No, it's the right thing to do
43:21The potential for us to have some fun was there
43:24And I tried hard and tried to be playful at times
43:27But it was batted back
43:30Do you want to keep that as a souvenir?
43:31You keep it as a souvenir
43:32So you can have a little scrapbook
43:34I don't know what that was all about
43:38Horrendous
43:40There you go
43:41How was your date?
43:42It was a strange experience
43:43That's not quite what I was expecting
43:45Or hoping for maybe
43:47Take care
43:48Take care of us
43:49Thank you
43:50Bye-bye
43:51I didn't feel the magic spark
43:58Would you like to see each other, Dan?
44:00Over to you
44:01You go first
44:03You go first
44:04No, the lady's first
44:05No, you go first
44:07Okay, I'll go first
44:09I thought we had a nice date
44:11I thought we'd go on well
44:14I'm not sure if there's that magic spark now
44:18Right
44:20I would see you again though as a friend
44:22And I'll go out for your drink
44:24You're a nice person
44:26I just don't know if it's for me or for us
44:29That's okay
44:30Yeah
44:31Say it
44:32That's a shame I fell in love with you
44:36How did it go?
44:38Oh my God
44:41On a scale of one to horrendous
44:44It was about
44:46Really, really horrendous
44:48I realise now more than ever
44:50That I need to be treated like a queen
44:53And I will be
44:55Because I won't put up for any less
44:56Because I won't put up for any less
44:58My search continues
45:00Onto the next one
45:01The next one
45:06Are you bastards
45:08A one
45:09A two
45:10A one, two, three

45:15Is he going to light?
45:16Is he going to light?
45:17Is he going to light?
45:19Thank you very much, thank you
45:21I love you all, that's brilliant
45:22Can you show off and let's go for a drink?
45:23Yes
45:24Let's go
45:25I think so
45:27Bye
45:28Love you all
45:29If you could tell me
45:31That you want me
45:33Whisper in my ear
45:35I'm back
45:36I'm back
46:06I guess if I had like a dream guy
46:08He would be very tall
46:10Is he seeing me? Does he know?
46:12I don't know how
46:14I just need a home
46:35He's got a light
