00:00All right. Good afternoon, everyone. I want to thank Congressman Vesey, all my incredible colleagues from Texas, and thank you to the Voting Rights Caucus for fighting, as always, to defend the cornerstone of American democracy, the right and power of the people to choose their representative.
00:23So here's what's going on. Republicans know they have a losing message, including among their own voters. Two out of three Trump voters oppose the tax cuts they have given the rich.
00:41Sixty percent oppose cuts to food assistance. Seventy one percent oppose cuts to Medicaid. House Republicans have just spent six months doing exactly that.
00:57The agenda is not primed to win them many elections, so they are resorting to the oldest trick in the right wing playbook. Pick your own voters.
01:12They do it by suppressing the vote. They do it by driving down turnout, and they do it by chopping up congressional districts.
01:23We know that Texas is going to be the first stop, but it is not going to be the last. That's how weak they are.
01:31And the American people see this for what it is. Republicans undermining democracy, politicians putting career over country, and Democrats are going to use every tool that we have to make sure that the people of Texas are heard in 2026,
01:54that the will of Texas, that the will of Texas, that the will of Texas, that the will of the American people is respected, and that their vote counts.
02:01Don't forget, we would be sitting in a Democratic majority if it wasn't for Republican scheming in North Carolina that redistricted off the map three Democratic seats.
02:17So we're going to fight with everything we have to make sure that it is the voters of this country, the voters of Texas, that get to determine who controls the U.S. Congress.
02:32And with that, I am so proud to be in this fight with a true champion for the right to vote and for democracy and for the people of Texas, Congressman Mark Vesey.
